I have an interesting idea, I'd love to see someone use a decibel meter and perform a before and after test of a trunk application. It'd be a great way to best illustrate the effectiveness of the application in the rear trunk/hatch area.

I have thought about doing this. I just don't have one!

I believe this was done by Huck and bigdog1250. They used an iPhone app for it though. Here's bigdog1250's 370Z video where the decibel level is mentioned:

I'd be interested in doing both doors + trunk, how much would you think I need (for the 370Z of course :))? I did see on your website that you have a 2 door version (12 sq ft) and a trunk version (24 sq ft), would that be enough? I just want to confirm if anybody has actually done both doors + trunk and I don't want to order more/less than what I need.

I've used their other product, and regarding the smell... It goes away in a few days, it's not that bad! :tup:


Oh, and it depends how anal you want to be with it... I'd recommend something like 30-40 feet to fully cover the trunk and doors

Our GTMat Onyx is butyl based with no smell after install. 36sq ft is a good starting point for the Z.

Going to have get some soon. But they only sell it in 5 sqft size so i have to order 6 kits i guess.

Because others have said the smell is not that bad or goes away quickly

I am in the San Antonio area.

Would you like a sample to be sent to you? It will include a 2" x 3" section of the Pro, Ultra, and Onyx mats. It would be the best way to determine which route you want to go. The 80mil will give off an asphalt smell when it is installed, however, it does dissipate after a few days. I installed it on my doors and had the smell gone in two days. PM your address and I can get it out today!
