ok so the dash kit in question is this, right?: Nissan 370Z Aftermarket Radio Installation Kit

and the "better" steering control is this: Amazon.com: Metra Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface (Black): Electronics

i might throw in a back up cam while doing the install but not sure if i just want to add it later. money is starting to fly out the window. Yet again thanks for the input. This is onlymy second post, but i have been lurking around the forum gathering info.

so i found the 6160 for the same price as the 6140. but i can'tseem to find the differences. any one know?

DeEePiDDy 09-29-2010 09:16 PM

the 6160 is pretty much the NEWER version of the 6140...

I'm right up the way from you. Hi neighbor. :hello:

I'm looking to install a new headunit and components in mine. The only thing I'm wary about is running the wires from the headunit to the crossovers, tweeters etc and where to mount the crossovers.

kdrshocker 10-01-2010 10:14 PM

I have the spending bug... about a week ago i bought the stillen 3g air intake. Yesterday i bought the Kenwood 6160, the wiring junk, the dashkit, steering wheel control box, and a set of Infinity Reference componets (i'm hoping to be able to mount the crossovers on the doors between the metal and the door panel, it's worked out in the past). And today i bought the pioneer back up camera ND-BC4. Didn't want to risk the crappy ebay ones. And tomorrow i'm getting llumar CTX 15% all around. (no windshield, can't stand the look of it). I've installed alot of radios in the past and there is a ton of info on this forum to help anyone out with questions...

Radio Kit

AK, I recently brought a Pioneer 4300 double, 7" Tuner/DVD radio system. Do I need to order the after market kit so that unit will fit?

Intelligent key problem after audio installation

I was wondering if anyone here has run into the problem with the intelligent key after replacing the HU and install the backup cam? After I did the installation, the car can only recognize the key if it's close to the center console. I don't remember messing with the inside key antenna.

bigaudiofanat 09-10-2011 08:06 AM

Never had that problem here, 23 z's under my belt. Dying battery?

I am doing the same install next week. Here is a pic of the wire you are looking for. Also you can tap the camera at the back of the car and the purple wire in the driver side kick panel.

Matt , What is the best place to mouth the Bluetooth Antenna? Im plannig on installing a Kenwood DDX470 and have a few questions? Hope you can help? First is best place for Bluetooth antenna? If mounting an top of drivers side a-pillar, what;s the best way to get the wire down it to the head Unit? also. Going to install a CMOS back up camera. The camera isnt here yet but want to get a head start on the install. is it just the video RCA jack type cable and the purple back up circuit wires that need to be run from the head unit to ht eback of the car?

The bt Antenna! That is built into the head unit itself so no way of changing that. If you mean the mid on top of the a pillar works very well. Pull back the weather striping and tuck it along the channel behind it. The purple wire or any colored wire need to go to the trunk to a orange wire on the left hand side in on the back wall of the trunk. It uses a normal RCA unless its a Kenwood

I am a very friendly person just ask me anything anytime. Nice pic's AK

Hi Matt -

Great job! I might reach out to you in the near future once I pick up my new Z. This has made my decision a lot easier to get a base sport instead of a fully loaded model. One question I have for you is can we hide the antennas somewhere so they can't be seen?

AK - still loving the radio? It looks like a great choice! Thanks for the extensive notes and pictures

How did you physically get the Sirius XM antenna installed? Do you have to pull off the dash? Or just jam the wire down in there and try to fish it through to the head unit?

You can do it one of two ways, using a panel removal tool carefully push the wire between the dash and the glass and than between the dash and the a pillar, or remove the tweeter grill with a pry tool and feed it that way.

Connect that to the antenna remote/power antenna wire on your head unit wiring harness.

That I don't know. :P I think you need an extra harness for the Bose version.

Is photo bucket no longer working for the install pics??? I'm logged into the forum..... is there something I'm missing? Getting ready for installing a Kenwood DDX9906XR, Focal ISU165 speakers/tweeters, & a Kenwood CMOS-220 backup camera into a 2011 370Z NISMO

Photobucket has gotten stupid, they want you to pay now. So no you can't see them.

I'm getting my DMX-706S installed this week, assuming back ordered items arrive.
What are people using for a good quality, discrete backup cam? The links provided in this thread don't seem to be available anymore.
