[QUOTE=AK370Z;437377]Hey guys,

I have been seeing a lot of posts (and pms) asking me if I have any problem with my camera or does my camera white out in bright day light. I honestly have to say, I have zero issue! Morning, noon, afternoon or night, I have no issues with my camera. It does a pretty good job showing me the area as I'm backing up. So, I shot a video for you guys to see. Take a look:

AK….just curious…any videos from cold startup (car power completely off) that shows the actual time for the Kenwood HU to bootup and display the rear view camera?

USB Audio problem

Hey guys, I want to thank AK for great post and pictures. I bought 6140 and installed today. Only problem cannot hear USB device audio(iPod or USB stick) but when I go to zonning and select dual zone, audio is there. Also, how can I use/connect my touring mic to kenwood system? Help please...

kaoticfool 04-12-2010 04:53 AM

I was wondering if i could get a link to the ebay seller because all the previous ones are expired

You're welcome. I don't know what you mean. I don't have touring model but I have 0 issue with the usb post. It plays songs in my flash drive without any problem.

If you scroll through the 1st post, you'll see the link of the store all the way at the bottom. I'll copy and paste it here again:

How tough is the wire run for the rear camera install? I'm having a local guy install the 6960 on Saturday with all the trimmings. I have the backup cam as well, but I'm reluctant to have them tear the car apart. No big deal?

*ICE* 04-18-2010 09:37 AM

anyone replaced the cheap ebay camera with the Kenwood Cmos-200? There is a deal going on ebay for $154 shipped if you search for it. Any problem with day or night brightness or contrast?

Found another camera also, Boyo VTL351. Looks like the Boyo CCD is better than the Kenwood CMOS camera so I will get it and report back for any updates or improvement!

NEW BOYO VTL351 CAR LICENSE PLATE REAR VIEW CAMERA WIDE - eBay (item 390166612383 end time May-06-10 02:35:09 PDT)

I have the Kenwood CMOS-200 installed now. Very nice. The angle of view is super wide so you can see some bumper along with the rest of the outside world. The brightness is perfect in both daylight and night. Time will tell just how well it withstands the weather.

I'll post a pic in a bit. Just for reference, the CMOS-200 doesn't have any lines to mark distances on screen. The CMOS-300 has multiple selectable views and distance lines, but costs double.

I'm anxious to see the CMOS-300. I'm waiting for mine plus the DNX9960. :happydance:

spearfish25 04-18-2010 04:12 PM

One thing I'm loving is that the Kenwood will display the backup camera within about 3 seconds of startup. The rest of the unit takes about 20 seconds total, but it's smart enough to allow the rear cam video to just bypass through to the screen. Sweet!

LateralG'z 04-18-2010 06:21 PM

Nice, that is sweet

Pretty simple just have to know where to look and run the wires. There is a grommet on the left side of the trunk pull that out slice a bit of rubber out and run your wires there there down into the inner of your bumper to where you will run it to the license plate location.

Out of all the "cheap" cameras I have installed in the z's none have failed all are still working. I would still install them over spending 120 for a kenwood model.

Can anyone that has installed the steering wheel control adapter tell me if they were able to maintain the bluetooth controls as well as the volume/source controls?

bigaudiofanat 04-21-2010 12:47 PM

You are not able to keep the bluetooth controls as far as I know and have not seen ones that will allow you to keep them.

I have the PAC controller. Source, volume, and channel up/down all still work. Unfortunately, channel up/down isn't progressing through presets...just the next channel or station. Great for ipods and satellite, annoying for FM radio.

As for the initiation of voice dialing and hanging up...no go. The guys who installed mine said they made one of them 'hang up' but it doesn't do a damn thing. We did make one of the two bluetooth controls the 'attenuation' button so it's a nice place for mute.

Is there any lag with using the volume buttons on the steering wheel with the PAC controller?
I have a base and with the Z110-BT there are just volume buttons on the unit (no volume knob) and would like to get the steering wheel volume control back.

Caldaga 04-21-2010 05:51 PM

Ok so we aren't able to use those buttons for bluetooth anymore but we can try to program them for other uses.

So my camera also has the crappy whiteout issue. It also recently started flickering like the connection might be loose.

I didn't install the camera (local shop did), but when I had all the panels off I thought I noticed that they had the camera connected through a composite (yellow) connection to another cable. Does that sound right?

If I'm going to go through the effort of looking into this problem, I'd rather just go ahead and replace the camera myself. If I do this, am I going to need to rerun all of the wiring? Or is there some way I could connect into the current setup?

Chances are, you'll have to rewire. I have a Kenwood CMOS300 to install and it has power, ground and purple reverse wire plus the yellow RCA that hooks to the head unit. Since I have a nav unit, The purple wire isn't used, that come from the HU, but you'll definitely have to wire the hot and ground wires.

Do you have base radio or BOSE?

abgyak 07-21-2010 05:35 AM

BOSE i guess... here's the picture...

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4082/...0a76f36fd4.jpg

So if i happen to replace the radio set with either the Kenwood 6140 or the 9960 do you think i need the radio face plate?

TreeSemdyZee 07-21-2010 05:45 AM

That's the Bose. You definitely need the faceplate.
9960 is awesome. I love mine.

Where did you get your 9960 from?

& oh btw TreeSemdyZee, just a quick question... whats the range of the FM frequency of the 9960? Cause a cousin of mine once bought a Cadillac CTS & the FM radio frequency was in the range of 70.0hz - 90.0hz ... U see in my country, most Radio stations are between 88.0hz - 100.0hz

I got mine from WickedCAS. Nazar is a sponsor on here.
Here's the thread for that. If you get it there, tell Nazar I sent you.

http://www.the370z.com/audio-video/1...rtificate.html

I'm kind of clueless on the frequency question, but I think this page will answer you question. They're showing FM frequency of 87.9MHz - 107.9MHz.

Kenwood - DNX9960

Has anyone had any issues with the eBay backup camera? Mine has been working fine until today when it now just flickers green/red/blue on the nav screen. I checked the connections everything was fine also plugged my Canon digital camera into the video input and it was fine. So I'm pretty sure it's the backup camera. Anyone have a similar problem?

bigaudiofanat 08-22-2010 09:49 PM

I think some people are having problems with them. From what I hear there was a bad batch of them but the first batch was good.

Yep same problem I have/had. Right now it just shows complete black. I find it sometimes does work okay, but other times it randomly has those issues.

I just want to find a better camera (under $200) to replace it with. Don't want to bother with any more Chinese knockoff junk.

bigaudiofanat 08-24-2010 12:25 PM

The pioneer one I am getting ready to install I will let you know how that goes and it is about 140.

I trust the cameras from Japan just there was a bad shipment of them.

flashburn 08-24-2010 12:29 PM

Okay, thanks Matt. I'd love to get the Kenwood CMOS-300, it sounds badass, but the cheapest you can get it is around $250 on Ebay.

teejnut 08-25-2010 12:08 AM

Yeah I'm interested in what others are using. Mine sort of works sometimes now....

teejnut 09-24-2010 01:34 AM

So did anyone find a good replacement that didn't cost an arm and a leg?

Nismo221 09-24-2010 01:59 AM

nice that you can change the colors on the HU. Looks great!

The kenwood camera is great and the price is not to bad.

kdrshocker 09-28-2010 09:48 PM

Ok, so i just read 19 pages on this and still had a few questions...
A base 2010 with the crappy cd player is what will be replaced.

Do i need the faceplate kit or will it just fit in the factory slot?

do i need anything else besides beer for this install?
dnx610 - $734 Kenwood DNX6140 - 2010 SUMMERTIME SALE
ant adapter
wiring harness
maybe the PAC so i can use my steering wheel controls.

Anyone find the HU cheaper?

i looked at the other Nav units out there and this one seems to be better liked by more people. Thanks for the input/help

DeEePiDDy 09-28-2010 09:57 PM

I would recommend the dash kit. It looks a lot cleaner with it. Without it there may be a tiny gap which annoys me, but it's really up to preference. As for steering controls, I recommend the axxess aswc by metro. It responds a lot faster than the PAC. It's supposed to auto program but I had to have mine manually programmed.

bigaudiofanat 09-28-2010 10:26 PM

I second the dash kit and the metra.
