Default What To Do?????

So I have been shopping around for a system and just have one dilemma. To do rear speakers or not to do rears? I wanna do 6.5 components in the front and either 2 8's or 1 10 for a sub.
Will rears add anything?

I have a stock Bose setup with rear speakers. Honestly, I don't even hear the rear speakers. Two door speakers seem to play all the sounds.

im debating doing 4 x 6.5's (front and rear) or just the two front 6.5's and a single sub
i dont care about cutting out the rear panels to fit, but i dont want to have just bass and a little treble. its the mid range that sucks. i cant hear guitars and that burns me up

Do the fronts and your head unit and sub if your doing that as well all first. Than see if you want rears.

I think this is what I am going to do. Car is so small I can not imaging I will get much from the rear speakers sitting a foot from a sub?? Guess we will see!!

Matt makes some nice rear speaker pods that sits right behind the seats if you decide you want to do rears. That is the only way I see them worth doing.
Specialy if you watch a lot of movies with rear effects.

Do not do the rear speakers. Go with a very nice component set-up in the front. You can even put two 6'' SW behind each seat, or two 8'' SW behind each seat.

I am runningteh following.....

Head Unit: Kenwood DNX9990HD
Speakers: Hertz Hi-Energy System HSK 165XL (2 way system)
SW: 2 JL Audio 6W3
Amp: JL Audio HD Series HD600/4

It sounds damn good. I also purchased the XM & iPhone adapter for the HU & the JL Audio recommend speaker wire set-up. If you wanted to get the exact same set-up & hopefully you are able to get a sweet deal, then you paid around $4k give or take on what deals you can get. The Kenwood DNX9990HD HU was a huge piece of the pie, but was worth every effen penny. The whole set-up is worth it & I believe I got a good deal. I did not install this myself. I had Houston Car Stero install everything for me & they also built my boxes for my 6'' SW. The JL Audio 6W3 can put out some good bass. Two JL Audio 6W3 will put out more bass than one 8'' JL Audio, but less than one JL Audio 10''.

matt, you and i have been over all this plenty lol. im just afraid that if i do the two fronts and a sub that it will still be too empty in the mid range with all the road noise, (55 mph, windows down).

I still think your going to have plenty of volume and mid range even with the windows down with a good set of components.

Rear speakers should be the last option realy. you shoul spend all your budget towards the front speakers...
So let's say you have $600 to spend on speakers...
Spend all of it in the front speakers...
Assuming you have the supporting amplifier.

then ill probably go with that set up. pair o 6.5's and a single sub. i dont want to pay for install twice, and the less they pull the dash apart the better i feel. but i read those polk 6.5's have flemsy weak little terminal / voice call thingies..
i would be pissed if i hit a bump and the sauter (spellcheck?) broke
