Pioneer Parking Brake Bypass

Someone posted this before and I asked this same question, but no one gave me an answer that satisfied me. Why is this relay necessary?
I've installed multiple video headunits and always grounded the parking brake wire directly, with no relay. I've never had a problem. To me, why does it matter if the parking brake wire is only grounded when the head unit is on?

I'm working on this just today and have the same question. Why not just ground it and be done?

If the pioneer radios see a ground when they power up they assume it has been bypassed. So the relay will energize After the radio is turned on simulating the brake being applied after the car was started

I'm running the same relay setup on my 4300 and it works flawlessly

If I have a kenwood headunit can I ground the parking brake wire directly to the body without a relay?

I have the x920BT in my 2010 NISMO and simply grounded the parking brake wire. Works perfectly. Not shure why there is still so much hoopla over the need for a relay.

This will work. No need for a relay with Kenwood units.
