Sub box

Alternatively, I would remove the space tire, jack, foam pieces and construct a false floor that could allow for large sub(s) and amps, but in do not see the need for it in the 370Z (seems to be overkill to me). |
37Z, thanks for taking the time to do this. I'll be very interested to see what you come up with. Roughly how much room do you have left on the passenger side for your amp? I'm wondering if I'll be able to fit an amp and, possibly, MS-8 in there or not.
Thanks again!! |

My signal processor (Audion bitTen) and amp (Hertz HDP-5) was choosen for its small footprint. |
Interested...I'm thinking about a couple of 6's in that space...

I have only one 8" sub (Alpine SWR 843D) sub located on the driver's side with a signal processor (Audison bitTen) and HERTZ HDP-5 amp located in the passenger side. I have been sick and have halted constructing the sub box at this time. I will post pics once the sub/amp rack is completed. |
Probably JL W3's. Haven't decided on an amp yet but I think from a ventilation perspective it would be better under the passenger seat. I don't want the subs to be visible once installed so the carpet would also cover the amp if installed in the same space...

I'm definitely interested in seeing the results of your subwoofer box. I also think running two JL Audio 6W3v3 would be interesting.

Sweet, I'm very interested at taking a look at the final product. I've always wanted a ZEnclosure but still wanted to keep my rear cargo cover and keep my spare.

Sub Box Picture

See picture of my fiberglass sub box and false floor. The entire piece wights approx. 6 lbs. The sub box portion is wrapped in sound deading material so no rattles are heard. The finish is black gelcoat with a mat finish that looks similar to the finish on the plastic panels in the 370Z. The false floor lays on top of the rear hatch panels. This sub box piece stickes up approximately 1" above the rear hatch false floor.
The cut-outs seen through the speaker cloth are for the signal processor and access to the amp. The right side just poking out from the bottom is the bottom of the sub box. This is a one piece design that drops in the foam piece area of the rear hatch. |
This looks nice. Interested to see some pics of it installed in the car.

Also interested. Can't wait for install pics

Here's a pic of the fiberglass sub box installed behind the strut bar.
The sub box is basa-core fiberglass composite, black gelcoat finish with a leather like grain pattern. The sub box houses the bitTen signal processor and amp and covers the empty foam piece located behind the strut bar. |
