Default Need Backup Camera Suggestions/Info

So I have read a few threads, and I can't find one with solid information about what camera to get. I read about Navtool, but Im not sure exactly how that works, and what it does.

I have a 09 370Z with Navigation, I am looking to add a backup camera to this. What is the best way to do this, and what parts do I need. Also I might be interested in adding a DVD player to this. How do I go about that?

Thanks

P.S. Don't tell me to search because I have already done that. Im not reading through 100 pages of chit chat to try to find this information.

Navtool and your choice of camera I recommend the kenwoods. Unless your going with a aftermarket head unit setup.

No I want to keep the factory nav. What if I want to have a DVD player on my factory nav screen. What would I need to buy? That nav tool says it only works with video, no audio.

Also what about cameras that fit on the license plate light, what would you recommend, what works best?

That's the only search I use and I only search by title.

I'd also like to hear what some others are doing. Like TMAN, I've also had bad luck with the search function for this specific problem.

I have a base w/o nav though, so I am also looking for a good headunit with nav and the ability to support a back up camera. Can anyone tell me what spec to look for to know whether an aftermarket headunit can support a back up camera?

Thanks in advance.

These features will be listed anywhere you look for head units at...

Some websites to look at,

Sonicelectronix.com (Where I go)
Crutchfield.com
Newegg.com
eBay.com
Bestbuy.com

(The manufacturer's websites)

Then just pick what you want, use the fitment checker for each site and it will tell you if it fits in a Z.

or check out this thread on p. 2 of the audio/video subforum. 19 pages of chit chat, but it will get you started:

Plug and Play Bypass Kit (DVD, NAV and backup Camera) Discussion

check here also:
Nissan 370z dual pack (Remote + Camera Harness) - Car Kit Company

i see this stuff works for 2010s; check and see if it works for your 09.

I can't remember the specific brand but I found one that fits the license plate and works awesome. Found it on Amazon for around $35. I have a Kenwood dbl din but am sure it will work with the stock stuff. I wired it into the reverse light.

Old thread. TMAN1985 traded it for a Toyota FJ, then Tacoma, then a Juke, and now he has an Xterra Pro-4X.

Lol he was my room mate.

He no longer needs advice on cameras.
