No issue here. I used the same Scosche adapter. All I did was wire the blue wire from the Scosche adapter to the blue/white line wire (Remote Turn On) from the radio.

I have the Bose head unit, would it be best to replace that, or to install this in the Cubby hole area?

With the bose, you'll have to remove the entire stereo and start from scratch...

Either that or spend a lot extra to get someone to rewire everything...

I'm afraid removing the Bose may hurt the resale value of my 40th?

Only if you put something crappier in to replace it.

Will it not have the same value as stock, perhaps... it might be less, or if you put in a quality system it might be more...

But if you're worried about resale, why do anything to the car? The best way to sell/trade is to keep it stock all together.

OK. My radio reception was really bad so I tried connecting the blue antenna adapter lead to the blue-white amp trigger lead and SUCCESS, the radio ROCKS!

Pray for me, now I'm hooking up the back up cam, easy, and the steering wheel adapter which I'm not at all clear on.

Except for a couple of odds and ends the install is done and it sounds FABULOUS! I've got Polk DB6501 component speakers (6.5" woofers plus separate tweeters) in the doors and dash, 3.5" Infinity 2-ways in the B pillars, a mono amp (between the aluminum cross bar and the rear shock towers) and a 10" Pioneer compact sub in a custom spare tire mount. I really like the B pillar speakers and the sub is OUTSTANDING. The Polk speakers sound even better now that the are part of a system. The back-up camera is superb, the ipod interface works, I didn't get Pandora or SAT radio (I'm not interested in pay services), Bluetooth (I just retired-the phone hardly rings), HD Radio (HD reception in this area sucks), I got what I needed at an affordable price.

I know that as good as this is, it is nowhere as good as the heavy duty systems that many of you are installing. But I kept all my cargo space and have a great system. Thanks to all of you, your posts were an essential resource in this project.

Hey, Guard Dad.

I just got the 4300DVD unit myself. I should be installing the Polks thsi weekend, maybe early next week. All in all, your setup sounds very similar to what Im looking to do. Maybe with the exception of the 2-ways in the B pillars. Do you think they make a difference? Thats something I could probably do now... Im doing the amp and sub in december, most likely.

Well I've been playing around with the various settings and, for me, the B pillar speakers are a real winner. I know that these speakers (B pillar) are not universally loved but I like the clarity they provide for the vocals. The fact that they move the sound stage toward the center of the car doesn't bother me, besides, once the sub is thumping away behind you you're "on stage" with the performers anyway. I'm really glad I stumbled onto these speakers (Infinity Reference 3032cf), they were affordable and sound great.

Notes:

1. I didn't use the large cutoff capacitors.
2. I was a little nervous that the seat belts would rub against the back side of the speaker and damage the belts so I took a piece of scrap leather (about 5"x6" ) and attached it to the B pillar on either side of the seat belt in very loose loop. It doesn't really guide the belt all it does is provide a soft surface between the back of the speaker and the seat belt.
3. These speakers have a special design that maximizes the area of the speaker but this means that they don't easily mount to the back side (inside) of an enclosure they are more easily mounted on the front side (outside) of an enclosure. I slightly enlarged the mounting holes on the speakers, slightly trimmed the mounting bosses on the B pillar trim and "floated" the speakers on two of the factory mounting bosses and then sealed the space/gap (3/16-1/4") between the speaker frame and the B pillar trim with small strips of Rammat/Dynamat, making sure that nothing touched the speaker cone.
3. Don't get greedy and try to install speakers larger than 3.5", it's not worth the trouble, there's not much room to work with.
4. Be sure to remove the felt insert in the factory speaker grill and trim off the plastic "bumps" on the back side of the factory grills.

It turns off when the car turns off.

I don't know if you can turn the whole unit off like you're asking, if I want to have it off, I just switch it to the SD CARD Source which blanks out the screen and Mute the sound. No big deal.

If you want it completely off, my guess you'd have to put in a switch for the acc power to kill it??

It's no big deal if I can't turn it off, but it's interesting; first headunit that I've encountered that does not have a way to power off.

Has anyone tried using the SD Card feature with this unit? The reason I ask is, Im wondering if I must arrange the files in a specific folder format in order for everything to be accesible from the screen (i guess similar to how the libraries look when connecting the iphone).

I tried connecting a USB drive the other to the USB cable, and while it saw everything in the drive, I couldnt navigate through the content. I kept having to press forward on the unit in order to go from track to track - blindly.
