Anyone try out HD Radio on the AVH-P4300DVD? Does it have a strong tuner? I bought (and now will be returning) the JVC KW-AVX840 b/c the tuner seems to be quite weak. I'm considering this unit now.
Any help is appreciated! Thanks. Mike Last edited by MikeUFLAW; 08-23-2011 at 08:05 PM. |

Just installed this HU last weekend, and looking to order the back up cam next, and also wanna get the bypass for the DVD while in motion since trying to find the right wire for the ebrake means removing more panels than I want to.
So for the other guys that have this (and the back up cam) could you post some pics, or a quick DIY on where you mounted the cam, and which wire you tap into? Also for the ebrake bypass, is this the same as those things I see seven million for sale on ebay? Cause connecting things, I can do. But when it comes to wiring up relays and stuff, I'd prefer not to as I don't have a soldier gun and the right stuff for that. So if I can get one for a few bucks off ebay, is it gonna be the same thing? Looking at getting this one: Pioneer AUTO DVD Parking Brake Bypass Video AVH-4300DVD | eBay

I would like to think maybe faster software, but can't imagine the hardware being much different? Aside from everything being internal... But the good thing about this one is I can pick and choose what I want without having to pay for everything. And I can add them as I want them...
Back up Cam Bluetooth Navi In that order.

If you don't care for Sat Radio (like me) I don't feel like paying for that feature. If you don't care for Bluetooth, or HD Radio or whatever else, you don't have to get it. It's pretty much do you wanna buy one that does everything, or buy one that lets you pick and choose. Then it's about looks, which one looks better to you lol Other then that, it's your wallet, pick whichever one makes you happy.

The P4300 are Bluetooth and Navigation ready but you have to buy the add-ons separately. If you don't plan on using the aforementioned features - save yourself some cash and get the P4300. Use the saved cash for other mods like a nice set of Swift springs.

PandoraLink for Pioneer for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store Edit:Sorry, didn't see the part where you said the app wasn't working. My only recommendation is closing out Pandora on your phone and rebooting it. Plug it into the HU and try to launch the Pandora Link app again to see if they pair up.

I have tried that and also reinstalled the app but no luck. The app says connect to headunit and the headunit says to open the app.

Radio's now a days are smarter and need to detect the parking brake wire being engaged after the radio turns on. You do this buy adding a relay. The radio, once turned on, will detect the parking brake wire has been grounded and will remain locked while driving. With a relay added, the radio with turn on, parking brake will have no connection. After the unit turns on, a signal will be sent through the blue/white wire (amp turn-on), which activates the relay. Which then simulates you pushing down the parking brake after the unit turns on. All this happens very quickly but you get the idea.
Basically when the radio turns on, parking brake wire needs to show no connection first. I hope you understand it, it's the best way I can explain it. lol. For Alpine and Clarion screen it's not as simple.
