Where to place ipod cable

I am in the middle of installing a Kenwood 6960 inside my Z. The question I have is where is a good place to run the iPod Video Direct Cable.

Default Where to place ipod cable

I am in the middle of installing a Kenwood 6960 inside my Z. The question I have is where is a good place to run the iPod Video Direct Cable. I want to be able to get to the ipod and cable, but can not think of a place to put it. Any input would be great. I have the base model Z, no navigation.

i dont have an ipod video cable, but i did mount the usb/3.5mm under my armrest:

i installed it this way for several reasons. if i ever get around to buying the 40 dollar video cable from pioneer, i can simply just plug it in there. if i dont ever buy it, i still have the 3.5mm accessible for when i want to use it with my phone or a passengers mp3 player/phone. also the usb doubles as a charger

I have a Pioneer Avic unit and ran the cable through the glove box. Easy and does not require any cutting.

Cubby, glove box, center counsel all are good places. All depends on where you want to cut or not cut "glove box"

I know what I'm doing when it warms up. I've got so much cable in my glove box right now that I can't use it for anything else.

This is awesome.

heh the best part is the cable is just about the perfect length to be mounted in the center console and not have a ton of wire bundled up somewhere behind the dash or in the center console

I installed the iPod iSimple Gateway. That had so much cable that I ran it under the center console, past the armrest, and out by the passenger seat. Then I rest my iPod on the ledge behind the passenger seat.

The factory nav has the interface in the center console, but the 2009 iPod cable is too long and thick, so it is annoying if you have to plug/unplug a lot (I have a permanent iPod classic in there).

no mounts. i removed the entire center console and just cut matching holes with a dremmel that were slightly smaller than the actual 3.5mm/usb plugs. then i shoved them in the hole and epoxy'd it in. they dont move whatsoever.

I ran mine out from underneath the passenger side knee pad. I use a Proclip mount for my iPhone on that knee rest, so the cable exits in a nice spot to plug into the phone. If I don't need the cable, it's easy to push the extra length back under the knee rest and into the dash.

Would be nice to see some pics. I put mine in the glove box but the wire is so fkn long and thick.

Wish they made the cable so you didnt have to leave the USB plug out. This way all you would see is the ipod connection.

Agreed, I would also like to see some pics. I have a base model and am in the planning stages of my mods...
