Default touchscreen monitor in place of cubby

I have an 09 370z sport and I've been contemplating making a carpc for it. The part I always get stuck at is the screen. I would like to be able to keep the stock radio in it and perhaps just hook a headphone jack into the aux-in so the only place to put the screen would be the cubby...

I was wondering if anyone has been able to replace the cubby with a screen.

I'm hoping for a 7" touchscreen w/ display link but most have an ungodly large bezel.. sigh... any ideas? xD thanks in advance.

prefer in-dash over mounting xD

It can be done but will take some fiberglass work and about 2 or 3 days work. A 7 inch would probably fit. Just trying to think of why you want a carput with most head units able to do most of what that can do now a days. Also keep in mind that you will have to use your aux port of your stock head unit unless your changing that.

I'm doing a carpc for a multitude of reasons, but primarily because the HU's ive seen are either really expensive, really laggy, or really cheap looking. For about 500$, i can mount my own 7" carpc with android, tether it to my phone if necessary, have gps, have tons of apps, and be upgradable. I'm a pretty big tech guy so I think it's the best route to go (at least it'll be the most fun).

I'll have some soon. I should get a chance Tom night to cover it in carbon fiber.

I'd love to see what you guys are doing too.
What are you all using for the touchscreen?

Sidenote: I installed the IPOD Gateway which does have a spare aux port which means no wires in front.

Here is mine, it is running an HKS Camp II system to monitor everything.
I will be redoing in beginning of next year, keeping the screen but have an idea of the area wrapping around the screen to make it look cleaner/flush.

That is one of the things I wanted. I love your setup. Is it possible for more details on what you used and maybe a DIY?

Also, why a second monitor? Is it a full carpc on top? You could of used the input on the HU for the HKS camp 2.
