Two solutions:

1) For 2009, cars the NavTool solution that Jeff is handling and believe PMs have already been sent

2) For 2010, my solution which is OEM in functionality and location but using the Kenwood Camera and a harness that I've produced.

We are going to be offering two variations:
a) Full kit including the Kenwood CMOS-200 camera
b) The kit without the camera if you already have a camera or want to source your own.

As Jeff mentioned we are just sorting a few things out with AK so I wont post prices yet, but needless to say I think everyone will be very pleased.

What would be useful is a count of interest in option a vs b. I know some may want to know the prices before answering that question so what I can say is that sourcing the camera seperately would save you $20-30. The main reason for going option a would be if you already have a camera or want to use a different or cheaper camera.

Hope to be posting full details very soon. The solution is already well proven within the GT-R community across the globe and as we have proven with Jeff's car the 370z is exactly the same.

Hi Bdl99,

do you also offer your additional kit to complement the backup camera kit with these nice features (DVD and Navi Bypass) for the 370 MY2010?

I have couple questions then:

1) sorry if this was answered already, but, will the Kenwood camera utilize the square spot that is already present on the bumper?

2) with this kit installed, will it automatically display the camera's view on the nav screen when i put the car into reverse?

3) any other added functionality that comes with this kit? eg: play dvd while driving

1. the kenwood is installed above the lisence plate, where the OEM camera is located on most nissan/infiniti cars and trucks. the square location doesn't give you a good viewing angle. i literally CANT see the camera on my car unless i look really close. i'll go take a pic in a little bit.

2. yes it automatically displays the camera when put in reverse

3. that functionality is not included with this kit. this is justa harness and camera that allows the navigation to take a camera signal.

On Jeff's car we mounted in the standard Nissan/Infiniti position which is between the license plate light and trunk release button and is virtually out of sight. This location gives a much better viewing angle compared to the plate you mention. Also this requires no drilling of holes etc.

Yes and you get the gridlines that move with the steering wheel.

The kit does include the future of a plug and play option for bypasses which I will offer for 370z if there is interest.

This is something I could offer if there is interest. The three bypass options are exactly the same as the GT-R and it would work as is. If the fourth function was required (ability for 2nd Aux video input for front camera) then some modifications would need to be made to the kit before I would be able to offer it.

thanks for the answers. Have one more; the kits that were on the market prior to this weren't very user friendly 'cause they required modifying the harness. Does the harness on this kit just plug into place without cutting and splicing?

yes, it is literally plug and play, completely. you unplug the plastic end from the back of the nav screen, plug in bdl99's harness, and then plug the piece that was in the back of the screen into bdl99's harness.

here is the harness plugged into the screen as we were installed. the white connector plugged into the screen was made by bdl99, and then in the background you can see the other end of bdl99's harness with the original connector plugged into that.

I see Jeff posted a picture of the backup camera harness. The same would also be true for the bypass kit which is exactly the same plug and play approach it is just on one of the connectors on the back of the AV unit rather than the screen.

i assume that the bypass kit and camera kit can all be connected together? And i also assume the bypass kit is additional $$ ?

Bdl99, having the ability to program nav and play DVD in motion capabilities would be nice to have. I would definitely be interested, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Is that a possible option A2 for the group buy?
