thanks

if you have a 2010, its a different unit than toner would have , since he has an '09. PM bdl99 if you want the 2010 unit.

Yea I think I am going to make a DIY for both units. Weiboy was nice enough to give me a heater switch to use instead of the toggel switch

Mine too.
What camera are you planning to use? I know the pioneer is recommended, but just wondering what other cameras people are considering

I am not planning on using a back up cam. I purchased this so I can install digital guages and view them through my navi screen.

So I'm totally disgusted with NavTool. My original Paypal transaction didn't go through, because I changed banks..... didn't modify it yet in Paypal.. etc.

I called customer service to tell them I'll give them a credit card number, and the guy, who was pretty rude, told me to add it to Paypal, cause it needed to go through them.

Fine. I did that, but they had already canceled the transaction on their end, so I had no way to pay it. So I called them again to tell them to resend the invoice. Guy answers and tells me he's going to put me on hold.

After waiting on hold for 20 min, I figured the guy wasn't coming back, and didn't really want to help me. A$$hole

toner123 12-14-2010 02:53 PM

I got put on hold for a while when I called also. Give the guy the benefit of the doubt he is really busy. Also not to be rude but it's not his fault about the credit card issue. Just call back and talk to him.

Agreed, the Paypal issue was mine.

I thought I would be "helpful" and give the guy a credit card number over the phone so we could just bypass the Paypal issues, but he wanted none of it, and his attitude was as if he didn't give a crap about it anyway.

Maybe since I've moved to CA my skin has gotten thinner or something :icon17:

I've updated my Paypal info and tested it with some other payments, so that issue should be gone. Hopefully he tries the payment again. I know this time it will work.

give him a call again. If he is rude just tough it out because this is such a good deal don't want to see your pride ruin it. Tell him to reissue your paypal payment request. Keep me informed or jeff blue i will call for you if it gets to that level

the navtool is 175 with the group buy price. The group buy is open till the end of the year. the kenwood camera is 150 i believe. but you can get a less expensive camera if you want.

Interested in the camera set up. For those that have done it, what's the level of difficualty? After reading 26 pages, sounds fairly straight forward. But this Z owner has zero, nada, zilch experience pulling apart a car and is more than a little worried about messing with my baby.

wheee! 12-28-2010 12:20 AM

You can do it if you have a clean dry place to work and are willing to work patiently and slowly, following the direction and use the proper tools. I did it in two hours with fair experience with mods. Most people do it in under 4 hours by themselves. The hardest part for me was fishing the wires thru the bumper behind the license plate. But it is just takes patience and time.

r9u8t0 12-28-2010 11:30 AM

Dizzy,

I was in the same boat you're in, hadn't worked on a car in 30+years but when I tackled the installation I found Brian's instructions flawless and very well thought out. I have a roadster to and the only problem I had was running the camera wire from the trunk to the interior of the car. Brian's install was for a coupe and there was no way I could fish the wire through the center of the car. I think it had to do with where and how the top retracts. But I found a very easy was to access the the interior and keep the wire completely hidden. I send Brian the pictures of where I took the wire. Hope this helps.

Dizzy 12-28-2010 12:33 PM

I appreciate the feedback guys. If I can still get a kit, I'll give it a try.

PM sent.

Lude_conduct 12-29-2010 04:25 PM

has anybody tried avelectronics.com? i've never used them myself, but i've heard of them... and they've actually been around for a very long time... considerably cheaper too i think...

xTIMMYxCOREx 12-29-2010 05:27 PM

Anyone around Los Angeles who would want to help me install this? I had to put it off till after I moved out that way.
Thanks,
Tim

I just got my Nav tool yesterday. Any recommendations on camera. When it comes to optics, generally I would rather spend a little more than not enough.
