i recently wired up a USB cable for my garmin. i had to take off the shift trim and the passenger decorative kickpanel (watever it's called).

i took my 1/2" forstner drill bit and my 90-degree duck and made a hole on the side of the cubby. used my high-tech wiring apparatus (coat hanger. ) and snaked the USB pigtail from the cubby down to the side of the kick panel area and connected the wire to the power socket.

then took a black EZ felt, cut to shape, took some doublesided tape and cleaned up the hole to make it a nice OEM look. put everything back together.
