Power to Cubby

Is there a way to run a power wire (usb wire) to the cubby without pulling the center console apart? I simply want to run the power cord for my Garmin into the cubby. If I have to, I can take it all apart just wanted to make sure there was no easier way.

Thanks all!

You can take the dash apart and run it up threw that way I am not sure why you would need to take apart the center meaning middle console apart. You can get power by taping into the back of the power port on the passenger side neer the floor. Black wire is ground.

i recently wired up a USB cable for my garmin. i had to take off the shift trim and the passenger decorative kickpanel (watever it's called).

i took my 1/2" forstner drill bit and my 90-degree duck and made a hole on the side of the cubby. used my high-tech wiring apparatus (coat hanger. :p ) and snaked the USB pigtail from the cubby down to the side of the kick panel area and connected the wire to the power socket.

then took a black EZ felt, cut to shape, took some doublesided tape and cleaned up the hole to make it a nice OEM look. put everything back together.

Thinking of the same. Any pics?

i dont have a pict of the cubby hole and DIY but this is how the garmin is mounted (and powered) via the dissappearing gps mount modshack style version2.

the bracket folds into the cubby when not in use or while parked outside the garage.

Very clean. My Garmin folds into the cubby too, but the cubby has to be open during use AND and have the big ol' power cord coming out into the passenger side 12 volt.

hummmm... im guessing you mounted the circular plate onto the cubby wall and suction cup-ing your bracket? Doesnt the bracket fall off the plate from time to time? maybe just mine but i found it wasn't very reliable.

You are right. The circular things loses it's sticky after a while. But the suction cup lasts forever.

So what I did was cut a piece of plexiglass I had left over from a home project (a football through one of the panes of my bay window). I cut it down to the size of the back of the cubby and just wedged it in there real nice and tight.
