On the rear speaker topic, has anyone run rear speakers and crossed them over to be just mid bass? That would fill nice if you were using a smaller sub

On the rear speaker topic, has anyone run rear speakers and crossed them over to be just mid bass? That would fill nice if you were using a smaller sub and not ruin the sound stage right?
