RTA Curve Feedback

Just wondering what people think of my current RTA curve and whether there are any recommended changes? I'm not sure I can improve it any further without a dedicated EQ.

Default RTA Curve Feedback

Just wondering what people think of my current RTA curve and whether there are any recommended changes? I'm not sure I can improve it any further without a dedicated EQ. Equipment is:

- Bose with Navigation
- Audiocontrol LC7i
- JL HD900/5
- Hertz HSK165XL
- JL 13TW5-4

The curve was recorded at "20" volume.

With limited EQ capability, I'd say youre looking pretty good. (I believe you knew that prior to posting...lol)
how were measurements taken.. what equipment did you use for measuring?

I'm using the iPhone RTA app from AudioControl set to average mode at drivers head height. I'm on the fence about whether adding an EQ is worth it or not. I'm trying to achieve maximum benefit for minimum weight.

Depending on how deep into the rabbit hole you want to go, a DSP unit will far outweigh a simple EQ. Time alignment and full 31 bands of eq per side take you to the next level..

Fair call, any recommendations on a DSP? Stick with AudiControl?

The audio control 608 is a good piece, and you will not have a need for the LC7 any longer.
There are a few good units available, $600 seems to be the average going rate..
There are a few cheaper options, but I can't attest to their quality.
Cadence makes an inexpensive unit as well.

The 608 looks pretty impressive, is it worth the cost? I was looking at a second hand DXQ, but it looks like I'm better off either going for a 608 or staying with the current setup.

that depends.. If you consider yourself an "audiophile" a DSP is well worth the $$ the control over everything about your sound system is a must. The tuning capability to create a real and lifelike soundstage, with vocals centered on the dash is where the time alignment comes into play. When properly tuned, it is difficult to locate your speakers, and the separation of instruments on the "stage" is pretty amazing.
If you consider yourself a casual listener, you may not want or need all that control.

Be advised, though... If you do not do your research on how to properly do your Time Alignment and tuning, and be willing to spend the time to do it, its not for you.

What mic are you using? If you're using the iphone mic you aren't getting a true reading.

Agreed it can take up to a week to get a really good tune. A month of tinkering after.

Just using the internal mic at the moment- didn't see the value in an external mic when the stock head unit and amp settings are the only available adjustments. From the research I've done the later model iPhone mics are reasonably good. If I decide to get a DSP I'll upgrade. I'm going to give it a couple of weeks more of listening to the current setup to decide whether to go further or keep it the way it is.
