Probably has to do with the Bose system, but I'm not sure.

That would be my first guess.

Bose speaker systems do not have "standard" specs. You should be able to install some components that will match things up. One of the site's audio experts should chime in soon. IIRC, you best bet will be replacing speakers and maybe some different wiring as the Bose drivers aren't meant for higher volumes and their frequency responses are engineered for the Bose system.

They're all controlled through the stock Bose amplifier, probably with built-in crossover points, EQ and such (in the amp that is).

should be quite easy to install.. Double check that you connected all your wiring, including chassis ground, and also your settings in your Head unit. Might be something squirrely there. Pioneer uses what they call SLA, or source level adjustment. Open that screen, and try to increase the volume for the particular source you are using...

Sounds like you forgot to connect the turn on lead from the new head unit to the aftermarket harness. That would make your volume low.

I'll bet you might not have the bose system. Which means you have the wrong harness.
