Default New head unit, now has static/white noise

So I had a kenwood dnx573s installed,
And now at low volume, and for a few seconds when turning on the car before the music starts, and for a few seconds after the music stops, there is a not loud, but very audible static or white noise and it's already bugging the hell out of me and I've only been in the car 3 times! ... it didn't do this before the install. Any suggestions?

Interesting. My first thought was that you have the gain of your amplifier turned up too high, but that usually causes hiss at all times (drowned out when signal present).

process of elimination during power on/off key sequence when you hear the noise:
#1. Turn down volume of radio.
#2. Turn off Radio
#3. Disconnect preamp out from radio from amp.
#4. Disconnect power amp trigger wire from radio.
After that I'm not sure. If you have any active electronics running between the amp and the head unit I would suspect that.
Is your H/U running the power/speaker outputs into the amplifier instead of the low level preamps?

Is the H/U switching to AM/FM during this time?

The volume knob does not affect the static or white noise, I assume that's why it can be heard through the music at low volume.

I'll have to look into the other things.

I'm not sure how it was hooked up it was done at a local shop, but I've taken 4 or 5 cars to them over the years and never had any issues.

If they didn't hook up the audio to the RCA's on the back of the head unit that'd explain the noise
Sway likes this.

He did mention the harness looked like a regular non-bose nissan one but said it should be fine...

You're sure if he didn't hook up to the RCA's it would result in this static?

Yep. Add some RCA pigtails onto the harness or get a line output converter and you'll be good
thundra likes this.

Just an update for everyone that might have this issue in the future and find this thread, getting a new harness with the rca’s did the trick. I got that then later replaced all the interior speakers with JL audio c2’s and couldn’t be any happier.
DeliriousClam and thundra like this.
