How did you rip the files? What format are the files?

How many files total are on this stick? How many files do you have in each folder (roughly?) Do you have a bunch of folders? You don't have to answer these questions exactly, but there are some limitations from what I've read.

In addition to what OhioYJ mentioned, I'd check:
That the stick is using the the wrong file system (FAT, FAT32, etc). Mount the stick on a PC and get disk properties (right-click then Properties in Windows).
If the stick has defects. Many apps available to do the verification.

How do you know how many files on a folder ?
I ripped the cd's from my laptop and each are in a folder. I transfered 24 folders to my stick by clicking and holding the folder and moving it into the USB stick.

FAT32 is what what you want. My guess is that the files that wont play arent actually MP3s.

Have you tried seeing what is in those folders? I would check something you know doesn't play.

What did you use to copy these CDs to your computer?

I'm assuming they're either .WAV or .FLAC files which, unfortunately, some players do not support.

Check the Owner's Manual to see which file system is required. OhioYJ is probably correct that FAT32 is the way to go (pretty much the standard FS in use; your stick probably came formatted FAT32).

It sounds like some of your audio files are not in the proper format/codec (as per OhioYJ and DeliriousClam). You may need to re-rip.
Are you using an audio player/cataloger (eg, iTunes) to copy the files? It may be changing things to an "oddball" codec.

Start at page 4-36 and read a few pages. The owners manual discusses what types of audio files are compatible and much more.

I ripped them using window player. tried to drag them, hit the sync option and it works. It goes on the USB stick but when I put it in the car, it doesn't recognize the FAT32, it says unplayable file.

I used "rip" and also "sync".
Still shows unplayable files.

You're on the right track. Right-click the disk icon and select Properties.
Or right-click the disk icon and choose "Format...". This will present a formatting dialog showing the current FS.

Going by some of your other comments, it sounds a lot like some of the files are not in the proper format. Files must be in MP3, WMA, or AAC.
