The Install Videos

Ok guys, I finished my audio install a couple weeks ago and have been sifting through hours of install video footage. I have been breaking them up into roughly 5 minute clips of "How To's"
Much of what is on there is info you guys have posted in various reports with pictures and some good reading. I have added a different take with some actual footage of the install.
Let me first say that I am not a profesional installer but I have learned and worked on many over the years and enjoy doing my own installs. Plus I HATE people working on my car.

These are the first 4 videos that I have completed so far. Check back often as I will edit this original post and add more videos as I finish them.

I would also like to thank BigAudiofanat for answering a couple questions I had and for getting back to me so quickly. Also thank Division and Jeff Smith for some help too.

I love the forum and hope you guys enjoy my videos.

I hope one of those video's details how to pull the door connector apart :) Aside from our posts, I don't think that has been properly documented yet.

+rep for you.

Thanks man glad it all turned out. Anytime anyone needs help just ask!

bigaudiofanat 11-05-2009 05:38 PM

Just a suggestion sliknik, maybe you should type up everything you installed.

Sigur 11-05-2009 05:53 PM

Cool vids. I didn't like the idea of destroying the factory tweeters either in case i ever sold the car or whatever. I did the same thing pretty much but just used some 1/4" fiberboard instead of the plastic. My GPS antena I put right inside the trim piece with the pocket in it at the top and seems to work good there. I didn't like the idea of it sitting out on the dash. Your work is very thorough and clean, good job.

bigaudiofanat 11-05-2009 06:16 PM

The tweeter if you do not want to destroy them like me and him both did. You can go to your local radio shack or model store and pickup a piece of black plastic than cut them out to size and cut a hole in them for the tweeter. Than keep your old tweeter and just put the new one in.

Walmart....15 bucks.. The same kit is at best buy for 25.
That panel tool was very handy as well as the rca snake tool. Worth the $

I have Boston Acoustic speakers in my home theater with the SVS sub woofers and absolutely love them..........I thinking about buying them for my 370Z.

What do you think of them? pros & cons............

SlikNik 11-06-2009 12:47 PM

They absolutely scream with no distortion. Love them so far.
They fit perfectly in the door with the Zenclosure spacer 3/4"

 from me

bigaudiofanat 11-06-2009 12:48 PM

Take it easy on them slik for a few days. You have to let them break in.

It is there you just have to get the grommet and slide the new wire threw.

dcrew1x 11-08-2009 10:49 PM

Hey sliknik,

Just in case you ever decide to purchase and install the Nismo brace kit, the interior brace attaches to one of the bolts you used for ground at the end of video 5.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...dwocoversi.jpg

If not, no big deal. Just an FYI/heads up just in case :p

Great videos!

Thanks for the heads up but doubt that would be in my future.
Thanks for the compliments as well. Glad you like them.
More to come soon

I think it offers a little different take on the install than just pictures. Ideally I would have been in a larger garage and had brighter lighting and maybe my wife holding the camera. lol

cdawg410 11-09-2009 04:56 PM

I'm exhausted just from watchin you, if I was ever going to attempt to do any of this stuff myself this video would have been the perfect guide, you are awesome for posting this how-to. As it turns out, I think that I will use my hard earned cash and pay someone else........maybe.

Mike@ZE 11-10-2009 03:37 PM

Nice job Nik!

Are you going to be at The Run in December? I'd like to see and hear the setup.

As far as the tweeter mount brackets. If someone can hook me up with a tweeter or the measurements I can make the adaptor brackets on the CNC......

I would need the length x width, the bolt hole size, and distance between the bolt holes.

Mike
