I'm in the same boat as you OP - probably will be getting an upgraded HU later this year - was looking at some with the android auto options, those looked cool!

Well every since I got everything work I like the one I got. It plays soudcloud and spotify and I can search both apps through the HU which is all I ever use. Plus I got the backup camera which is a life saver and navigation whenever I need it.

I would definitely look into the android auto/CarPlay options a bit more. Though as of right now CarPlay isn't all that great.
