No doubt there's a market for a bigger-screen iPod Touch, and if the latest rumors are true, that's exactly what Apple has in mind. A report from Michael Arrington of TechCrunch says that Apple is developed a Touch device with a 7- or 9-inch display, which is plenty big for video-watching, Web-surfing, gaming, and possibly even conventional desktop apps.

Details are sketchy. Apple reportedly will launch its king-size Touch in the fall of '09. According to TechCrunch, prototypes of the device are out there, and Apple and its original device manufacturers (ODMs) in Asia are working out the production details.

Then again, price is a thorny issue. Apple doesn't do cheap, and at $500 or less, the current crop of netbooks is definitely that. Today's iPod Touch, with its 3.5-inch display, starts at $229, but the 32GB model goes for a whopping $399. Naturally, a bigger Touch would cost a lot more.

Interesting indeed with the things the touch is capable of already this could be interesting for mobile video a 7-inch screen would probably fit in the cubby if you go without Nav. Run a aux line and Voila you have have mobile Video with sound output to your radio.

Nah... I'm not a fan of Apple's DRM stuff, so I don't really like iPods. I have a shuffle which isn't bad at all, but I don't like iTunes (especially since 50% of the time I run Linux) and the last thing I want is to download movies that will only run through their DRM crap. I like Apple, but it's BS that they're so proprietary with their medias and software. If it wasn't for that, I'd be down for a 7 inch iPod touch.

But I won't do it. Breaking DRMs is illegal and immoral. I support the arts. I just won't buy Apple DRM stuff. Both Microsoft and Apple have their heads up their a$$es when it comes to DRM.

Illegal I agree with but I wouldn't call it immoral. Steve Jobs has said numerous times that he doesnt agree with DRM. DRM is just a safety net put in place to protect the artist. When digitally downloaded music first exploded it was really a sensitive subject but the studio's and artist have eased up on there stance now.

Most of Apple's library can be downloaded DRM-Free now straight from Itunes.

You can download from Amazon DRM-Free and as soon as you download your track it will import directly in to itunes. They have a huge library.

You dont have to download from Itunes and you dont have to download music with DRM these days.

Movies and Videos can be downloaded from Amazon I believe with no DRM either.
