So the other day while washing my car I noticed that the black shiny plastic part next to the driver’s side window (lock pillar finisher according to the service manual) was looking a bit weird, it looked like it had a gap on the top right corner, so I decided to move it to the correct position but it felt loose. Upon further inspection I found out that the top clip was broken ("Pawl" according to the diagram, I don't even know what that is ), not only that but it had some silicone to “hold it in place”.

Obviously I didn't break it, so I’m only left with two options of where this could have happened.

1.When I took it to get the clear bra on

2.At the dealer

I first called the clear bra place and asked the owner about it, and he said that he had noticed it and that the part was already like that when they got the car. (They added clear bra to those parts as well so that how they could have known). To be honest it seems weird that they could have broken that part because they have no reason to remove it or apply pressure. Anyway they denied that they had something to do with it and I can only trust them because I have no real evidence.

So my next stop is going to be the dealer, I'm still not sure how to handle it. I don't know if I should just state that the car came like that and make a big fuss about it, or remove the silicon and say that it just broke and file it as a warranty claim.

If none of those work I'm looking at $63 to buy and replace the part myself.

So that’s my story. Any comments? Advice?

Hold dealer responsible. They'll always try and screw customers just to save some dollars. Never trust the stealership, plus it sucks to think you go in with a bright attitude all happy to get a car and the. You get this kind of crap from them? Sucks.

Also, if the clear bra place noticed it did they take any pictures of that being like that already? And why didn't they notify you immediately when they noticed it? I'd think that to CYA (or in their case theirs) they'd call you and let you know that there's a prob with the car as to eliminate the possibility of the customer getting suspicious with them??? Idk my thoughts.
