Default General Technical Question: Degreasing/Cleaning Engine Internals

So we have an RB engine torn down and we really want to degrease and clean the bottom end without disassembling it.

The oil pan is off, the head is off, it's just the rotating assembly and the block still connected to each other.

As this is a ~12 year old engine with around 50K miles on it, it's got some gunk and nasty crap in the crankcase that we really wanna get out of there, but we don't wanna cause rust and corrosion issues by using engine degreaser/water.

Has anyone done such a project before? Any tips on how to go about it safely?

Thx!
