Totally depends on what the seats and harnesses weigh and if you open up the interior paneling and remove the stock belts.

Weight reduction alone is a silly reason to do it though, IMO. A good harness weighs almost as much as the stock belt, for example. So you could get some light(er) "sport seats" that still allow you to use the stock belt, and like you said, use the lighter stock brace back there rather than a heavy duty steel harness bar.
