Default Blizzaks and normal weather drivinmg..

Because there is some snow, slush and ice in a lower Midwestern state, and because only Blizzaks are available for the sports package winter tire set up (since rear and front are different), I am purchasing them.

However, for clear winter days where the roads are clear and the temps are in the 30's, could I drive my car with Blizzaks as I would with OEM tires, that is fast (85-95 mph), on the highway or do I need to adjust my driving on clear days?

I wouldn't drive 95 mph on snow tires.

Check the speed rating on them...

I'm on LM60s. Mid 30s earlier this week, I got out on some curvy back roads and pushed them without any issue. Wasn't really watching speed, but easily in the 80s. Same temps last year and I couldn't pull away from a red light without being overly cautious on the stock Potenzas.

I'd suggest buying wheels and tires. I've got 225 50/18s. Makes it a whole lot easier and cheaper to change over. Just my 2 cents.

I believe they are speed rated H which is good up to 130 mph. I've got the 4 squares 225/55R-18 and zipped along the highway nicely today without any concern.

Is it okay to have the winter Blizzaks without TPM's as adding those costs $244? I am buying new tires and wheels and as it is, it costs over $2100. I figure It should be okay. What do you guys think?

It's fine. I've driven five winters without them. You just have to keep an eye on your pressures like us old folks did in the olden days.

At 65, do I qualify as "us old folks"?

I went ahead and bought the TPMS, brand new wheels, plus the Blizzaks for $1500. Of course I went with the narrower tires on all four and didn't buy the performance Blizzaks, so that's where I lowered the cost.

I bought the Blizzaks with wheels but without TPM's and paid $2182.04 from tire rack and they have been shipped. However, I dont know if tghey were performance or not. There was only one set that showed up for mine on Tire rack and I bought them.

I get them here next Monday and will get them on soon after.

Very good! Let me know how they perform in snow! I've had one light dusting I tested them in and it seemed pretty stable and very little slippage. I'm actually looking forward to testing mine in a little deeper snow to see how she handles....

I just bought the lowest priced wheel ($132 ea) with Dunlops ($165 ea) 245/45/18 and no TPS. They are the same size all the way around. Total price was only $1200 some.
I did the same thing with my G35 and it worked great in the snow.
I was told by Tire Rack that if you buy the TPS you will have to go back and reprogram the car every time you change the wheels back to summers and vise versa. So i saved the $244.
The 245 diameter matches up closest to stock size.
Didn't put them on yet. Will wait till it's supposed to snow or until they start salting the roads.
