So you are trying to justify lower-than-stock performance on a price basis?

Based on this rationale, you don't need performance tires on a daily-driver since you should never come close to pushing the car to its limit on the street anyway. In that case, might as well just get the cheapest tires you can fit on the wheels. Who cares about nonsensical stopping-distances, cornering grip, or straight-line traction...right? Why the hell did the car come with good tires in the first place?

But, to answer your question...yes. Absolutely. It's not limited to stopping-distance, either. Tires effect every measure of performance on a car. I will stress again...downgrading from what came from the factory is something I will never do. But hey, I guess I'm part of the minority, here.

Look up hyperbole.

I think I'm done here. If you'll excuse me, my car is due for a new set of brake-pads...off to AutoZone to buy the cheapest ones they have. I don't need good ones since I won't be on a track anytime soon...
