Forged Performance: GT30 Formula Silver Installed

Niko came over from Alabama for a header and wheel/tire install. I have been looking forward to installing these incredible Volk GT30's on his car for a couple weeks now.

VOLK GT-30 Formula Silver finish
20X9.5 +35
20X10.5 +10

We hit the nail on the head with these offsets and tire sizes.

We went Toyo T1R's all around, and a MASSIVE 305/25/20 rear tire, and 255/30/20 front. The car looks like the absolute devil and incredibly aggressive from the rear.

Thank you NIKO and Happy Birthday!!

Formula Silver is sick! I can't wait to get my FS wheels. BTW, what did you do with the tire pressure monitor when installing the new wheels?

nogoodname 09-07-2009 12:17 PM

the 305 fits perfectly on the 10.5 inch rears.... very nice

and those tails are nicely done, not overdone like mine

also, since there's a 1 inch difference in diameter from front to rear.... does it make a big difference??
the rear is 1inch smaller

I made a mistake which I just corrected. It's a 255/30/20 so the OD difference is nearly nothing. :)

now it's bang on

it's only a bit off stock specs...

6MT 09-07-2009 02:18 PM

Sharif, has that car in the pics been lowered? And, did you need longer wheel studs with those offsets?

I'm the lucky owner of this car. It's been lowered with the Eibach Pro Kit springs. I'm not certain how much it was lowered but the manufacturer indicates it lowers the vehicle .9" front & .8" rear.

What about the wheel studs?

ssqpolo 09-07-2009 02:37 PM

Sorry about that. Well, Sharif asked if I wanted to use the stock wheel studs or buy another set to match the wheels. I ended up buying the matte black finish from Volk. Therefore, I would assume you can use the same studs since he asked me if I wanted to keep the stock studs. I hope that helps.

I bought this car right here on the forums. The previous owner already had it completed somewhere in the Atlantic City, NJ area. Not sure exactly.

6MT 09-07-2009 03:16 PM

Congrats Niko. Your car looks awesome. I'm looking at the CE28's (if they're made in 20 inch). And now I know the wheel & tire sizes and offsets for the same look as yours. I PM'd Sharif and asked him about the CE28's.

I just love your look!!

zman1910 09-07-2009 03:16 PM

They rims look good(and I'm not a GT-30 fan) but also incredibly huge IMO....offsets are spot on though

Sharif, removed the TPMS sensors to the new wheels. Should be a simple transfer from old to new wheels.

The OEM TPMS sensors transfered over to the GT30's. The GT30 has a second valve stem hole on the rear of the rim. Drops right in. :)

No lights or blinking things on the dashboard. :)

HKYStormFront 09-07-2009 07:33 PM

looks really, really good. excellent choice for that car

blue660r01 09-07-2009 07:52 PM

Great color. That setup looks sick.

Musashi 09-07-2009 08:26 PM

My firstZ's tails were painted. He doesn't do that cheap overlay stuff. The wheels and tires are very right for the car! Really sets it off.

CrownR426 09-07-2009 08:37 PM

Wow, that z is looking hella good!:yum:

Awesome! I'm eagerly waiting for the Volks you guys ordered. Hopefully the spacer for the front wheel works well.

LiquidZ 09-07-2009 09:57 PM

Do you have anymore pictures of the front wheels and how they line up with the fender?

I don't but maybe Niko can take some more when he has a chance.

Ryan@Forged 09-08-2009 10:30 AM

Wow, those turned out very nicely! Definitely the way to go on this car. I don't think they could have turned out any better :)

Snakebite202 09-08-2009 10:35 AM

Very nice...

nogoodname 09-08-2009 10:35 AM

yup, offsets are pretty damn good... +1

Can we assume this for most of the Volk lineup or is it GT-30 specific?

The Volk GT lineup will eventually have the second hole for the TPMS sensors but it's being phased in slowly.

The Monoblock wheels, such as the TE37, G2, and CE28 will accept the TPMS sensor without having to use a rear facing hole, so those are ready to go as well.

Liquid,

I'll post more pictures this evening when I get home. Also, tell your friends with G37/G35s or 370s that I'm selling the stock Sport wheels at a great price! Only $1000 shipped FREE with Rubber. Check out the thread here.

You are too :bowrofl:

nogoodname 09-08-2009 03:47 PM

i was gonna say Musashi painted them....... LOL

jmlenz 09-08-2009 06:17 PM

That Z looks incredibly low for Eibachs!?! especially the rear! makes me rethink my coilover setup. There are several others on the forum with 20" and Eibach springs with a pretty large tire gap. Anyways, car looks great but to me it looks like the front offsets could be more agressive. Maybe just a bad angle? The rears look great though -

jmlenz 09-08-2009 06:23 PM

Could we get some more pics on even ground from various angles?

DIGItonium 09-08-2009 08:08 PM

Almost forgot... OP, how do you like your Formula Silver finish? That's what I'm getting with my Volks since FP was able to request it for the particular wheels I'm ordering. From the pictures, I like how it's light and dark depending on lighting conditions. That's definitely the "gunmetal" of 2009.

myfirstz 09-08-2009 08:43 PM

New pics per your request

Here are some new pics I took today after getting her washed. I hope the angles are what you were hoping for. I added my front plate which was custom made for me. What ya think?

is it me or could the front of taken a bigger size.... like 265 to minimize that stretch there

nice pics and good colour choice... matches quite well with the Z

Maybe it could have taken a larger size but I was trying to avoid scrubbing the inside of the wheel well. Maybe Digitonium is getting a larger front and can tell me whether or not a 265 front tire will scrub or not? :hello:

Thanks for all the positive comments!

nogoodname 09-08-2009 09:22 PM

it might rub.... 2theextreme has 265's up front but his Z is quite low and it rubs

last i heard, the rub issue is fine now....

Togo 09-08-2009 09:30 PM

Yeah a 265 would be pretty hot, i know dannygt said he has a 275 up front at first with major rubbing and went to 265 and all was good.. he was running +22 up front though
