Default What tires (sizes and recommendations) 20x9 20x11

I am wanting to replace my tires. The rear are 275/30/20 Pilot Sport A/S and they are incredibly loud. I cant tolerate it anymore so while I'm at it, I want to go with a wider tire.

However, I simply CANNOT fit much larger if any than my current 245/30/20 up front due to the offset of the wheels. The offsets are 20x9 +8 and 20x11 +5 and I am on H&R springs.

I'm having a hell of a time getting a tire size figured that will work and look right. Right now the rear is more stretched than I'd like. I thought about going to a 285/30 but I'm concerned about the difference in size between the front and rear pissing off the vdc and braking.

Seems that a 305/25/20 would be ideal but I'm afraid its going to look too goofy being .5" shorter than stock...

Thoughts?

im running 285/35/19 (nismo size) on my rears after running 275/35/19 for a few years. no issue.

so, in your case, id probably just do 285/30/20.

The concern with 285/30/20 is that it is 3.66% larger in diameter than the front tire 245/30/20. I guess that would be the same as your 245 up front and 285 in the rear? Assuming you had a 245 up front? If that wont throw up any flags with the ABS, VDC, or TCS, then thats what I would like to run since I refuse to spend $800 a tire for something like a 315 or 325/25/20.

I'm running a 20x10.5 +10 offset and I'm running 295/30 no issues. and I'm lowered. I like that kinda meaty tire look..

285/30 should do you just about right on them 20x11's..

again my concern is the difference in diameter throwing off systems. Do you have a 245/30 up front?

Well you wouldnt because there is only a 0.7% difference in diameter between a 245/35 and 285/30. I would prefer the 285/30 but i cant add another .5" of sidewall to the front tires by switching to a 245/35 without rubbing all the time on every dip and turn in the road.

Brandon how long do you have for your answer? I just got my 20" rims and im getting ready to wrap 275/35/20F and 315/35/20R on them I can report back and let you know if I run into any VDC issues? on my 19" set up I did 265/35/19 F 305/30/19R but as you said the rotational diameter wasn't changed quite as significantly as it is now. though I will say on the tires I have for sale now when I did run them I had no issues. though I am curious to see if the time it takes for my traction light to come on under a hard accel comes on sooner because of speed sensing issues (i.e. driveshaft/wheel rotation not adding up for the ECU) anyway I understand most of the last of this is irrelevant to you BUT I do understand what your trying to alleviate here as the first night I took my 20" rims and tires out I rolled the rim inside the tire and popped it off the bead(who tff runs 275s on an 11.5" rim!?? *rant concluded*) so I had to place my buddies 18" SSR's on my rear to get the car home and the VDC wouldn't let the car go over 23mph without turning VDC off (due to issue mentioned above) anyways im done rambling away haha ill let you know what I find though man! sounds like you might have to break down and get some coils to bring that front end up slightly though unfortunately.

I'd sell the wheels before I do that. It's perfect the right now and some camber arms would allow me to fit more tire, but then I would have to run more camber, which i dont want to do. I just need more people with similar tire experience or a hard number to live by when it comes to diameter differences and percentages.

i cant guarantee that nothing will happen on your car, but for me, no issue on vdc or any of the safety systems.

once you go aftermarket there is always risks. like even if you changed brake pads, or swaybar, even alignment settings, that can affect how the dynamic stability control works during a slip.

another reason why im keeping my Z pretty much stock other than the front kangaroo bar.

Right, but that's obviously not going to cause concern since the difference between 255/35 and 295/30 is 0.23% or about a tenth of an inch.

I'm trying to find out what the limits are to the tire diameter difference before the systems start getting pissy (ie, is 3.66% too much). If you are chiming in with exact diameter tires on 19" wheels then no you arent helping lol... but thank you for trying
