Why is there miles written next to the tires? There's no correlation between tread wear rating and miles you should be able to go. And you can't compare tread wear

Why is there miles written next to the tires?
There's no correlation between tread wear rating and miles you should be able to go. And you can't compare tread wear ratings from one manufacturer to another
