metal "thing" in tire after service

Took it to a local place for an opinion. They pulled the tire off and patched it to get me by until I buy new tires. Unfortunately, the plasti-dip on

Took it to a local place for an opinion. They pulled the tire off and patched it to get me by until I buy new tires. Unfortunately, the plasti-dip on my rims got a little messed up :/

not sure if serious^ to some degree you are correct but the rubber/tread is the grip, ride and safety of the tire. thinking you can run one down to the belts every time to get the "most mileage" out of a set of tires is pure insanity

yea i highly doubt that happened at the dealership. that doesn't look like a tool or anything i've seen around a garage/shop.
