Fair enough...

My ideal wheels would be 18x9 18x10.5

However...

They're going to be track wheels so function > form.
- In other words, cheap... not pretty.

Right on Enkei's are as about as cheap you can get and they clear sport brakes. Also, Gram Lights and WedsSports are good choices. Why not go with a square setup in 18X10.5 +30? It will significantly decrease understeer and increase turn in ability. I bought a set of Enkei Nt03s from Kami Speed for great price and the other benefit for going square is you can rotate your tiers and more life out of them. To bad you live so far away as might sell my Enkei's as I am running Volks now.

I want to run the gram lights 57DR. I’m assuming the 18x9.5 +22 and 18x10.5 + 12 will work fine, I just want to be sure. Also tire recommendations would be very helpful. I’m considering 245/45/18 & 275/40/18.

Hi dude! I have those wheels installed on my Z before. The specs that you are going to order the wheels are ok. For the tires I installed 255/40/18 front and 285/35/18 rear ;)

Great wheels BTW

My current car is stock (2017 base model F-18x8; R-18x9)
I don’t plan to do any track other than weight saving and look

Plan to get RPF1 so I can re-use my current stock tire, they are very new
F-18x8 @ 35mm
R-18x9.5 @ 15mm

Anyone has this setup?

I'd move the proposed rears (18x9.5 et15) to the front and get 18x10.5 et15 for the rears

So I've been pondering the idea of switching to 18"s. Mainly rpf1s 18x9.5/10.5 +15 or possibly other 18"s with comparable weight and price. I'm Currently on oem sport rays square rear setup 19x10 +30 (275/35/19). My question is are there any significant performance benefits of doing this ? If switching to a 18" wheel I would want to run a taller tire. 40 series at least. 18 pound fronts/19 pound rears (rpf1s) vs 23.8 pound wheels I'm currently running (oem sport rays) . Is reducing unsprung weight as important for say highway pulls and spirited canyon driving ?

Reducing unsprung weight is important everywhere but as I recall the effects will be noticed most in low RPMs. But you are lightening the drivetrain you will feel faster response to inputs. I’d say it will help highway pulls but it will help canyon roads the most.

Either way you are reducing wheel sure but make sure you look at weights with tires. You are increasing tire and they weigh just as much as wheels in most cases. Don’t pick heavy tires for your light new wheels or you will just be wasting time.

Thanks for the input. This is exactly what I was thinking when I said I would want to go up to a 40 series tire if I go 18s. Light wheels but taller, heavier tires might negate the weight savings of going with a smaller, lighter wheel. Decisions decisions.. Anyone here have experience with the more affordable side of summer tires? Like Toyo proxies or federal rsrr's?

It is all about how far you want to chase that rabbit down its hole. You can buy two piece light weight rotor and reduce unsprung weight even more to negate the weight of the tire. Depending on what you are looking for if you go with a smaller diameter tire like a 295 or a 315 it will effective have the same effect as changing your gear ratio and the car will accelerate faster in short runs which is what you want for tracking and canyon runs.

True. Also should have mentioned i have 4.08 gears ready to install. And I will eventually add lightweight rotors a little later down the road. Did some quick calculations on willtheyfit.com and a 305/35/18 has a diameter of 670.7mm vs 675mm for my 275/35/19 I'm currently running. More rubber and comparable diameter sounds good to me ? That and a summer 18" tire is probably lighter then my current 19" all season tire lol. Guess I'll start my search for a set of rpf1s.
