A basic observation, although this is gross generalization:
1) 370z owners typically have a little more cash on hand. Therefore, they'll buy higher-end tires. It's more common to see RE-11's, dunlop star-specs, etc. in the sub-200 treadwear group than the falkens. See tirerack for details and testing results. 2) If wanting solid grip with good treadwear for day-to-day use, you're more likely to see Michelin Pilot Super Sports (or PS2's), Goodyear F1 supercars, or other very expensive models. 3) Remember that you ALWAYS get what you pay for. 4) You should lose sleep BEFORE getting the tire, rather than after. (Hard decision before, lots of research vs. being concerned about sub-optimal tire choice) 5) If you're going to actually race the car, consider a second set of wheels with actual race tires. Expensive, but then you're getting the best of both worlds. Sometimes the perfect tire choice is actually "perfect tire choice(s)" |
