I was thinking a couple coats of black plastidip fully dried followed by a couple of coats of a Dark Grey spray paint. Do you think you would still be able peel off the base coat of plastidip effectively removing the top coat as well? I may give it a shot on something other than my car this weekend.

Dude, I think doing that, you're gonna have a serious mess on your hands, definitely experiment on something first before you touch the Z, just my 2 cents.

Ok, I'm in the process of test painting a bucket lid now. I did three coats of black plastidip as my base. Now I'm painting over it. We'll see how it goes.

Did you paint the inside barrels too?

Really nice! How many cans you used for 4 wheels?

FYI, the paint over plastidip idea was a failure. It looks fine but is very difficult to remove. I highly recommend against doing anything similar.

When you guys did your wheels did you remove the tires and stems or did you just take them off the car and painted them?

Masa, I see you are from Annapolis. Do you by any chance have the black fang delete on your 370? I'm pretty sure I've seen you on my commute to Alexandria on 50. I drive a red 09 370z with the black fang and black rear valence.

Anyway, I'm actually considering plastidipping my emblems in a few weeks after reading one of the threads about it recently.

I used to have black fangs and rear valence using the plastidip but I got tired of it after a couple weeks then peeled it off again, the best part about the product itself. You can always switch up if you get tired of the look. :icon17:

I plan to plastidip my wheels sometime in the near future just to see if I want to go through with powder-coating - sort of like window shopping before making the final purchase.

edit: Don't you just love that stretch of Rt. 50 between Annapolis and D.C.? It's like the autobahn - if you aren't going 90mph someone is gonna run you off the road!

How long would it last on wheels?? I'm so tempted
