^ he was actually at my job doing the work. He didn't use any clear coat with the black paint he used.

Cool, thanks. Do you know if using the plasti dip clear will give a gloss finish? If it does I might try using it to black put my roof.

Hey Shahid, like Kenny said, I just used three coats of the plastidip. The finished product has a satin sheen/finish to it - pretty close to how the black parts on our front grille look.

Adding clear to the top will def give it a hi gloss look. Let me know when you are up to do the roof, I am down to help and doucment

I def. want to do these to my wheels, the fact that there is no prep and you can peel it off without ruining anything just makes it that much more tempting.

Will do man! Read somewhere on line that the plasti dip clear is not a clear coat, its just the same as the others but with no color. Do you think a regular clear coat would work well with the black plasti dip?

I want to try it out on my rear valence and fangs first. Then maybe roof and wheels. Where did you buy it from and for how much?

Honestly I really don't know. I'm wondering myself if adding clear coat would affect the drying of the plasti dip in any way. Might wanna do a search on that.

After a little research it seems using a clear coat with the plasti dip makes it harder while drying and a lot more difficult to remove.

I read that its durable enough to go through car washes. Even if it doesn't last, you can always re-apply it I guess.

I got it at Lowe's for around 5 dollars and some change per can. Rear valence only took little more than half a can with 3 coats. If you plan to do fangs + valence then two cans should be more than enough.

I guess we can always just try doing the roof in flat black and see how it looks, If its bad It can always be removed. Maybe just one layer of clear applied after the plasti dip dries will be ok? The info that I read used 3 layers.

How ling does the whole process (masking, application, drying) take? I'm down to do it next Saturday, but I have a wedding to go to around 7-8 pm. If we can be done before then next Saturday will be good (July 23rd). We can do fangs + valence or try experimenting with the roof.

It only took me and Solid Katfish around 45 mins to do the rear valence. That included taping the area off and applying 3 coats. We did however have a giant shop fan blowing on the car between layers so that probably sped things up quite a bit

Not bad at all! Any chance we could use the shop again to do the working my car? Also, is next Saturday morning/afternoon good for you?

Saturday morning is good for me but Solid Katfish will be on vacation that weekend so we won't have access to the shop.

We can do it outside as long as the weather is nice and sunny to help dry the stuff off or we can wait until he gets back so we can use the shop. Your call.
