Need pics Steve! Wanna see your new rubbers tires!
|
Hahaha
Well, I climbed inside my tires last night and tried to snap a pic... this is the best we're gonna get! :p https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-p...224_203309.jpg |
Pics not loading...?

It's actually quite comfortable and warm inside a stack of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I'll be sure to include that little tidbit in my Tire Rack review. ;)

Put your pics in your albums, then I can see them!
BTW, I sub-let the east corner of the deck to a family of raccoons. |

I just uploaded it for ya. |
A few more sub-tenants and I will have enough money to buy my own set of PSS's!
throw the old tires under the deck, there's some squirrels that may be interested in opening a critter condo development.... |

I am working a deal on 275/35/19 fronts and 305/30/19's on the back, with Nitrofill and touchless mounting, balanced to 300kmh
All in under $1600 and no, this is not a good deal, this is a GREAT deal! local member owns a tire shop.... |

Also Im going to Discount Tire in Katy, should I worry about them scratching my wheels
|
The one I went to was really small and didn't have lifts. So they have to use floor jacks; but I checked afterwards and didn't find any scratches.
On the tires, I would check Tirerack.com and see what the difference is in price comparing the sizes; then you should have an idea of what you should pay. Anything close to Tire Rack's prices mounted/balanced should be good. |
Ended up paying $1535  lol. Apparently they are on national back order, the fronts are coming from a warehouse in Houston, but had to pay to ship the rears from Delaware.

Picked up my tires yesterday. 275/35-19 and 325/30-19. In the picture. On the tires is a 12" scale to give you an idea about the width. I paid $347.95 for the 275"s and $477.95 for the 325's.
|
I'm currently running a 255/35 and 295/30 on the rear. My problem is I'd like to go up to a 275/35F 305/30R setup, but I'm worried that a 275/35 might rub. (Lowered 1" all around, considering possibly another 1/2" drop eventually.**)
**On K&W v3's if anyone has these with such a drop and could comment, I'd appreciate it. They [Discount Tire] have a 265/30 but I have been told that you want a different side profile for the front/rear with a front bias. So a 265/30 and a 305/30 would not work together. Is this correct? 2nd question, if cost is somewhat of a concern, but not major. Is it a noticeable difference from a 295 to a 305. And would it have any difference based on front widths? So say if I went from my current 255 to a 265 or 275, will the 295 in the rear be a good offset, or should I bump to the 305? |
Just ordered a set last week from Tire Rack! 1330$ plus 70$ for shipping. Great deal!

HOLLLAAA! Top is 245, bottom one is 275. Comparison pic.
These tires are liiiiight, btw. I picked up the 275 with just 4 fingers and didn't put any strength behind it. I'm going to weigh them both. http://i.imgur.com/cCG9V.jpg |
They are really light indeed. I was stacking mine and it takes no effort at all to lift one and bring it to the top of the stack.

Rear 275/35/19 is 25.8lbs
Front 245/40/19 is 23lbs vs. OEM Potenza Rear - 32lbs Front - 28lbs Very substantial weight savings. 12lbs saved from the driven axle is fantastic - I've always loved feeling the difference in performance with lightweight wheels and tires. My 350Z had Pilot Sports + XXR 518 wheels that weighed 20lbs each (overall tire + rim combo was close to 14lbs lighter per wheel), great difference over stock - broke traction effortlessly, but the rear end just felt so alive and light. 10lbs saved from the front axle will improve steering feedback, handling and breaking. Simply can't wait to get these on. |
Pretty substantial savings there.

next on my list for sure.... trying to source my next wheels to wrap them in.. :p |
Question from a tire noob. Everyone is raving about this tire but doesn't it have a lower traction rating compared to stock? How does that work? I'm not doubting that this tire is showing better real life results but how is it that our stock tires appear so much better on paper but suck compared to these tires? Just want to try to understand.
