yah, primer is a good thing to use on metals regardless of what it says. make sure you wipe it down real well with rubbing alcohol or equivalent to rid all oils and wax.

Thanks for your insight. I'm going get some primer and then reapply the spray paint. I plan to use paint thinner to remove the existing paint from the center caps. Do you think the paint thinner will do any harm to the plastic center caps?
