I believe our goals are completely different and no disrespect implied but just because you don't do it with 1000rwHP (jealous lol) does not mean its right. I hardly think 1000rwHP is right on a road course let alone an autocross LMAO...But it would be a blast! I ran 275/35/18's in a square setup on my old Rx8 and it killed in autocross on a car with much less power than the Z.

While I am not going square with this setup I am trying to stay close to it. Eventually I may buy 2 rims that will allow me to stay square so I can autocross and road course. In other words just swap the rears...staggered on the street and square on the track.

The Z has far more weight in front in compareson to my old Rx8...I can feel the lack of traction up front when pushing this car in stock form. It obviously needs more negative camber up front but a bigger tire would work wonders also.

The reason I ask is that under stock or near stock power levels the more rubber up front i.e. 295+ your going to run into under steering problems especially if you don't add more aggressive camber to allow you to fully utilize the 295 series tire while turning. I have seen aggressive setups like you are wanting but most of them run 275's up front and run almost -3* of camber as well. The most aggressive I have seen was a 285 square setup... I would recommend max 285 up front even at this width your going to add a lot more rotational mass and very possibly over-cook your brakes...

Well, the way I see it we need more grip up front. I figured a 295 would definatly help in that regard. I dont know about running -3 camber up front cause that would not be very streetable but I will run a more aggresive camber profile overall on the car. As far as overcooking the breaks never thought of that but that increase in mass could be offset by a good set of light weight wheels.

My question is then do we know for sure that using a larger tire upfront causes issues? Has anyone had issues with this? In other words do we have any data that would imply a slightly smaller tire is better? ETC? You mentioned someone with a 285 tire upfront...What issues did they have with going with a bigger tire?

The only thing I could think of is if we use too big of a tire (anywhere) it will take more effort to move the car but no one seems to complain when we see someone put a 315 tire in the back lol! At the end of the day I would rather the car by slightly tale happy then for the front end to push into a corner.

I do welcome all recommendations I just like to argue lmao! :tiphat:

I have touring/sport package 09' Z & before wheels I will set a AirLift so my Z will be dropped how i want (to the ground %))

i want to order Rotiform wheels 3 piece

question is offsets of wheels & tire specs for:

20x10,5 ?mm front
20x12 ?mm rear

what i want:
1) little "hellaflush" stance or just "flush" with stretched tires ofcourse
3) BIG LIP on the rear wheels

car for regular driving. lip of the maximum possible for the rear wheels.(sorry dont know in cm or inch=( )
& Im still thinking about rolling the arches, but not sure what will happen because of the plastic bumpers on the arches... or maybe ill need to order rear overfenders?

After some serious help guys. I have just bought some Volk GTS alloys 9.5 + 10.5 and they are +17 front and +18 rear. However the front wheels is not clearing the caliper. I thought that +17 on the front would have been fine?
Any info would be great.

Jay,

The pad height of your wheels is too low. How much clearance do you need? 2mm, 3mm, 5mm? If that is the case get a spacer to clear your caliper.

I have seen those wheels and they look good! I would recommend an over fender if your looking for the big lip like the porsche. From my understanding those wheels have a low pad height which will have a hard time clearing the calipers already... Do you have any more info on the wheels? you may need to talk to the manufacturer directly to get the correct fitment. Since they are going to have a weird pad height I dont think I am going to be able to tell you definitively what offset to run.

I will say most guys running the big lips are running 12 +0 or lower in the rear on 305's.

The fronts you can get away with 10" wheels

Hey Bullitt, sorry what do you mean by Pad height? I reckon it would need 3 or 5mm to clear properly at the front. The rear alloys seem fine... although I am now worries when I put the tyres on... it may rub etc?

Currently have the OEM 18 inch wheels. If I wanted to upgrade to the 19 inch sport RAYS, would they have the same offsets as the 18 inch OEMs, the 19 inch rays, or would the offsets be somewhere in between?

The rears yes even with 305's The fronts most likely no and you would be hard pressed to stretch that much on a 11"...

Pad height is the part of the wheel face behind the face of the wheel. This is the area in which the lugs attach the wheel to the hub. The height refers to the distance from the hub to the back of the wheel face. In order to build the wheel to clear the calipers you must adjust the pad height. This is why when you look at the japanese manufacturers they have faces labeled (O,J,A,B, and etc...) each of these faces has a different pad height and their purpose was to clear different brake sizes.
