Tiresplus DESTROYED my wheels

Was that the one in west palm beach? If so they messed up mine as well one time.

Tire Rack has a list of shops that have that equipment or just look for a place that sells custom wheels. They usually have the best equipment.

just enter your zip in the upper right and it will list shops near you. Then click "select/more info" and it will list the eqiupment they use.
That is a VERY cool piece of equipment.
Thanks for the link. I'm definitely changing installers next time (used TiresPlus for years, not particularly impressed) and the dealer I was looking at is on their list.

Sorry to see this. I would get in touch with your insurance and have them replaced with new.

That's brutal... how they took chunks out of the front spokes is beyond me. It's like the guy took a screw driver and hammer then went to town.

I don't see where it shows the shops have the touchless tool. Or does every shop in the search results have the tool? Such as Goodyear?

I had some similar line indentations on my rims after going to a local installer a few months ago. I was pissed when I saw it after I had already left. Since then I got RE-11s which are notorious for being bitches to install. I had them installed at the TireRack HQ and the guys did it flawlessly. They did comment that installing them was no simple task. Lots of lube gook on the rims and tires that I had to wash off later (they removed most, but there was still some left behind). But no new damage. Moral of the story: get them installed by first-rate installers.

Spearfish - yah, tireack does a superb job using their standard hunter tire mounters.

I have never seen/can find anyone with a machine like the one shown in the video the tire rack site doesn't show enough info.

How do you guys go about finding someone to do your wheels/tires

I have seen ALLOT of people take their wheels to a reputable shop only to leave with damage.

I took mine to Forged Performance. Didn't know they even touched them. Besides all the goo all over them. And that was with the PITA RE-11's. The guy there has been chaning tires for over 10 years and even after all that time he dislikes the RE-11's. But he took his time and wrapped the machine with towels to avoid any metal contact.

They used a manual bead breaker bar. I've seen this catastrophe in action, always on low profile or uber stiff sidewall tires. That's a shame, and unacceptable for any city tire shop. Even Costco has touchless systems at some of their locations.

Yeah, a lot of places still don't know how to handle low profile tires.

I think costco actually has the touchless hunter machines at all locations, as a side note.
