I have 265/35/19 up front, no drop, no rub. Guys have gone as wide as 285 I believe without drop and no rubbing.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I am still wanting to hear and see a setup somewhere between 255/35/19 & 265/35/19 with a 1.2" drop on 20 mm
spacers. Rub or no rub.

I think the rears might be fine with 285\35\19 on 25mm spacers with 1.0"drop in the rear.

Oh snap......back to square one on the learning curve...... I just learned that to keep the car from alot of understeer, that I should be looking at similiar ratios to stock. For the RE-11's the ideal combo is 265/305 but what I am hearing is that the 305 is too large for the 19" sport wheel, that is if I don't do anything else. Other tires come in different sizes that will have the right ratios.

This is making my head hurt! I may just go with stock sizes this time around and wait to see how everything looks and fits (tires, drop, spacers) after the Eibach springs are swapped out for Swift. I am keeping my 20mm/25mm spacers.

America's Tire has a tire calculator for checking ratios. Gonna go crunch some numbers.

Sweet, I am thinking 265's up front on 20mm spacers with a 1.2 drop. I wonder if my smaller wheel spacers will make up for the 10mm larger tire versus your 255's and 25mm spacers and hence I come away with no rub. What is your camber looking like?

should be ok, im running 20x10 with 255 front right now and no rub.

20x10....are you running 20" wheels?

Since no reponse on above post, I took it you were not running sport 19" wheels. It's the reason for the lengthy and maybe repetitive questions on the post above.

Thank you kindly for the clarification and my apologies for my ignorance and taking up space on this thread. You have been patient and I appreciate your input.

lol buddy, i was just joking. this is what forum good for right?
sorry i got 19" before, but now i got 20x10 +10 with 255 tires front and 20x12 +0 with 305 tires rear and still no rub.

cossie1600 04-12-2011 11:04 PM

It's not so much the height of the tire, you just don't want to run a wider tire in the back than the front unless your car is naturally not balanced (mid or rear engine cars) or you want to create understeer. Nissan staggered the tires to create understeer so people don't kill themselves, creating more is just as stupid. Drive at your own risk

Good to hear, I tend to ask the same questions over and over but in a different way each time. And thought this was one of times I went overboard. Agreed, a forum is to discuss and discover answers to our questions.

Thanks for clearing the air on your tire and wheel combo set up. Good to know that even with 19" sport wheels that you did not rub. :tiphat:

Thanks for this excellant information on tires. I want to stay within proper tire setup range and not create another problem in handeling. In your opinion and reading about my setup and what I have to work with without having to add another part or spend more $$ what is opinion on the proper tire sizes I should be looking at? Am I looking to try and keep the staggered width of front and rear to be similiar to stock ?

For example if the difference in width on stock from front to rear is a difference of 1.18" then I should look for tires with the same difference or as close the 1.18" difference to keep understeer within the stock range?

From America's Tire (Tire Calculator)

Tire Dimensions Made Simple - Discount Tire

EDITED: COLDSHOT corrected me on the stock Fr tire size.

I plugged in both front and rear
245/40/19 FR
275/35/19 Rr

The difference in "section width is 1.18

Am I on the right track here?

COLDSHOT 04-13-2011 12:14 AM

wrong, stock tires should be
245/40/19 FR
275/35/19 Rr or 285/35/19 same as nismo stock tires size

ZForce 04-13-2011 12:23 AM

Corrected original post, thanks COLDSHOT.

ZForce 04-13-2011 12:33 AM

So crunching some tire sizes on America's Tire Calculator it came up with a difference in "Section Width" for:

245/40/19 & 275/35/19 = Section Width difference of 1.18
245/40/19 & 285/35/19 = 1.57
255/35/19 & 285/35/19 = 1.18
255/35/19 & 305/30/19 = 1.97
265/35/19 & 305/30/19 = 1.58

Is this about right as to what I should be looking for? Meaning the 1.18 tires would be similiar to stock and stock understeer and anything higher would create more understeer.
