Need some tire advice?

my speedo is spot on with 265 35 and 285 35 19 re11, even better than stock.

i can tell you this. if you dont race your car, 285 re11 will give you plenty of grip. anything bigger will just create more friction and adds understeer to the car.

My speedo is off by about 3mph on 265/ 305. Checked it today.

So far as you second comment. There's so many variables to be taken into concern there. Size of tires, drop, dampening, and alignment settings for starters. But I'm not going into all that. Just stating.

Ok thanks again guys. I really appreciate the input... so I think I'm just going to go with the following (again staying more conservative):

255-40R19 Front
285-35R19 Rear

My wheel sizes fall perfectly within those tires "rim width" ranges, and the sidewalls will be very close to stock.

Mine is within .5mph, verified with my datalogger. I wonder if it will be different with my new tires.

Most stock cars will experience worse understeer with the giant tires in the back only, a set of springs are not going to make a huge different. The stagger tire is purely for looks on the 370Z, it adds no performance edge to most cars. If anything, it hurts it. Try racing at the track with 4 265 or 285 vs. 2 255 and 2 305, you will know what I am talking about.

^ Agreed... but being that I already have staggered wheels, I'm just trying to fit the most appropriate tires sizes for the given wheel widths. I dont want to stretch the tires, nor do I want to have tires that buldge... as I think performance (and safety) is sacrificed in both cases. I dont plan to track my car much at all (if any) so I'm thinking my setup will be fine for spirited street driving. Yes?

Oh and does anyone have any experience with the Potenza RE050A Pole Position tires?

I dont necessarily need the RE-11's per say as the Pole Position tires seem to offer about the same performance, but they cost a few bucks less and they're in a closer warehouse to me. They are on a closeout special at tirerack. Should I stay away from these? (I guess they're being discontinued)

If you're getting a good deal on them, they're a perfectly fine tire.
