Painted White Tire Lettering
I've noticed that many american muscles and jeeps have those white lettering of the brand on the wheels, but never on a jdm car unless it's a straight up track car.
i've always thought about doing this project: Painted Tire Lettering (GT Style) - Team Integra what do you guys think? stupid or worth a go? http://team-integra.net/images/BAEC1...ttering/01.jpg http://team-integra.net/images/BAEC1...ring/final.jpg |
Do it, if it looks good I might do the same
|
I always like how they look spinning. Still need to see with low profile tires though.
|
might look silly if your z isnt completley tracked out.
|
Thats what I was thinking as well, someone should at least try it tho. worst mods have been done, lol

A little too NASCAR for me.
|
hey Alex, maybe I should paint the V12's, lol
|
just get a couple of paint pens. If it doesn't look right, just paint it black.

I did this to my old Gixxer I liked it. I dunno how it would look on a mostly stock Z though.
|
Yeah- I did this to my CBR. Very common in the sportbike world.
|
no way~~. not for me. :D
but yah, if it's a track car go for it! :) |
Looks cool on a race car with a pretty bare sidewall, but I wouldn't do it on the street.
|
Just saw this on an M3 board.
BMW M3 Forum (E90 E92) - View Single Post - Painted tire sidewalls just the letters. He painted the PZERO lettering in red to match the car. Not my cup of tea but it's not bad, either. |
unique indeed!
|
May look cool but I wouldn't do it as it is free advertisement. It would be a bit different if I were to post a review of the tires but I will never outwardly display a companies name if I weren't being paid for it.

No refunds for painted tires! :bowrofl: The Bimmer actually looks pretty good. It's neither better nor worse...just different. I think the color rather than white is helpful and less retro, stockcar-ish. |

The F1 cars were white (Bridgestone) but this year will be yellow (Pirelli). But I agree about the M3. If done right it won't look bad at all. As long as the owner likes it. |
Gosh, I'm feeling all seventies and sh!t...

so i finally decided to do it using a paint pen
you're supposed to do about 3 coats but i just rushed with 1 coating so it doesn't look as good as it should and i took it at night obviously with my iphone. let me know what you guys think |
|
+1 not for a street car
|
:ugh2:

night time pics with my iphone just utterly blows for some reason. i actually made it "better" using this Camera+ app
|
depends on the car and setup
I had them on my Mickey Thompson ET Streets and loved it |
I don't think it looks bad- but the more "stock" a car is, the more it sticks out, imo.
|
It looks great IMO.
|
Looks a lot better than I expected
|
Looks good
I absolutely like the look. I have been thinking about doing this as well as soon as the weather clears up. I had all of my bike tires setup like this. Ive done about 10 sets now so far. Never on a car though. I definitely like it.. . and will be posting pics up soon. Im going to do the Bridgestone and Potenza in White, with the triangle on the B red. Follow up soon with pics. Its a subtle standout mod. Not like we are adding gaudy racing stripes to the hood LOL

Since I was a little kid, my Dad had told me stories about how he used to paint "whitewalls" on his tires when he was a teenager, because he couldn't afford real ones...and I've always kidded him about it.
Regardless if this were to look good on modern street cars, there would be absolutely no end to the grief I would get if he ever caught me with paint near tires on one of my vehicles. :rofl2: |

Lol good story man!

they look good on tuner wheels but not sure on the sport 19's.
|
I like it. Might give this a try. I have a pile of paint pens at home.

I've always had a thing for RWL's. I love the way they look when they're rolling, but I always thoought it looked American-Muscle car-ish. I did this to my Mustang with Kumho's, but I'm up in the air about this car. One thing for sure, when they are painted, they are a bit** to keep clean.

i would love to get one of those stencil sheets so i can just spray can it on in 3 seconds, cause it would save A LOT of time carefully painting in each letter on just to see it crack and peel off in a few days, and get yellow-y/dirty.
here's a daytime update when i just finished it. i have to find out a way to keep them on longer before it starts fading away. i've been painting in 30-40F weather, using a heat gun, and applying 2 coats of Testor's flat white paint. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/...IMG_0998-1.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y1/...IMG_0994-1.jpg |
