Nothing wrong with all seasons if your crunched for cash, and understand you can't push as far as with ultra performance summers.

Me personally, I don't like having 2 different tire combo's or 2 different mileage worn tires... I replace all 4 even if only 1 is bad. But that's just me.

hahaha he's not but I made sure to give him a piece of my mind when I drove my car and suddenly the back was breaking out like nobodies business around corner :driving: lol

and ya at that time I just REALLY needed new rear tires because I had spun out on the freeway in the rain going well under the limit and got within inches of the center divider due to my tires being worn down (completely my fault for not replacing them sooner :shakes head: ). and I just can't wait to get these tires as soon as possible so I can enjoy experiencing everything the reviews are saying about these tires instead of just reading them =D:driving:

XwChriswX 09-13-2011 01:41 AM

I'll put it this way I have tried everything aside from rubbing lard all over them to get them to break free. Going 80 into a 90* turn, didn't budge, driving over gravel, stayed true... Hell the only thing that really defeats them is either a standing start, or VDC off start.

I have video's of each too. :rofl2: They do leave behind a great streak though.

Invos are OK if you are on a budget. Won't be anything like the PSS but I know a number of people that like them.

The tires alone were $1384. I checked Tire Rack and by the time you add $60 to ship 4 tires to whatever shop is going to install them you are going to be at $1313. I don't begrudge a moderate profit to the shop and they did an excellent job, didn't scratch the rims, inflated them to the correct pressure, and hand torqued the lug nuts to 80 ft. lbs as is correct. I don't know how one poster came up with an $855 cost but I'll bet he won't be able to actually buy a set at that price.

Just ordered my tires got them for $1650 at Discount tire... Just hoping they dont scratch the wheels when mounting.. also should I request the lugs be hand torqued ?

I can take you there if you want :rofl2: it's a good spot for runs.

$500 for the header install, CBE was free.

Halcom2 09-17-2011 05:22 PM

Just a header mod made it sound that great?

Just bought a set of 18" Super Sports at Discount Tire for $860 net installed. They were running a 100$ rebate + 30$ if you use Discount tire credit. To me they're a big improvement over the stock Potenzas. Well worth it. I got 28k out of the Stones.... we'll see how long these last.

mediocre tire at best. not a bad call if performance is not a priority though.

Which is funny because 8/10 guys in the local Viper club run Invos. Though that might have more to due with sizing than anything else?

cossie1600 09-21-2011 12:34 AM

Sizing + Cost

Draco 09-22-2011 04:13 AM

Just installed PSS 18's on the front end, stock tires are holding up ok on the back. Definitely thinking about springing for Michelins on the back too.

The grip is way better. The stock Potenzas are noisy as hell and dont seem to stick to the road in sharp turns like these do. The handling and noise is so much better with the PSS's, I think I'm driving a different car. We'll see how they hold up but after the Potenzas anything is likely to be an improvement.

I think the dealer loads those tires on the car so they can sell you another set as quickly as possible.

You'd just figure if you can drop $50k+ on a car you wouldn't be all to worried about $2k on tires.

I suggest you replace the rears as soon as possible. Mixing and matching tires is never a good idea.

Well yeah, but multiplication is at work here. $2K for a wear item that you can wear out pretty fast.

LoL If you paid $50 for your car you got :owned:

And it's more about how much liquid cash does one have to drop at any one time. Sprining $2k when you weren't expecting to creates quite a problem...

:iagree: Not safe. Especially with the older tires in the rear of the car.

Agreed, if you can spend $50k, $2k is pocket change.

Halcom2 09-22-2011 11:49 AM

Just put the latest model PSS's on the front to match the rear. ' Michies ' all around now. Definitely quieter and more traction than the Bridges. I would think that tires that grip better last longer than those that are always breaking loose. Smoke or slippage means rubber has gone. To a point obviously.

....speaking of Viper:

mwhit02 07-25-2013 03:13 PM

do the supersports run a bit taller in the sidewall than most tires?

I mean, would a 305/30/19 be almost the same amount of sidewall as my factory Nismo Yoko's @ 285/35/19?

I want to go wider, but I don't really want to increase the gap in my fender.

kenchan 07-25-2013 03:21 PM

how to calculate sidewall:

305 x 0.30 =
285 x 0.35 =

Pilot SS

I just installed a set of Super Sports this week after getting 20,500 out of the Bridgestones & they run smoother, are more quite, & have as much or more grip, but the jury is still out I need to put some more miles on them because the sidewall compound is softer their response rate is a bit slower. So I put in a little more pressure but it didn't help so I'll be back later for a further follow-up. Oh yea they cost me 1,275 out the door including front & rear alignment, nitro, & premium caps.
