Please post what wheels you think will look good on a red 370 nismo

Bullit, I know you are selling them and thats fine, but one thing I have learned after many many many years in the wheel game is that 3 piece wheels do NOT need to be crazy expensive.

Custom offsets, and colors and what not are no excuse to charge extra. The truth is most companies just charge that premium bc they want to have that name of over priced wheels. Its going to come down to the ops budjet, but to be very honest I get it all day, and most people have a budjet of 4k, w/ tires, not 5k or 6k.

Strasse makes a great product, but you cannot compare them with HRE or Iforged as they have been in the game forever, not to mention they actually make their own wheels, not private label like everyone else.

You and I agree on this whole heartily on the subject. The budget thing is totally understandable I had the same constraints when I bought my set of Strasse Forged. Honestly, Strasse Forged is not HRE as HRE has been in the game before I could even drive... Now I have had Iforged wheels and they are nice... I have had friends who could afford HRE's and they were really nice. Strasse Forged wheels from what I have seen and as a owner of their wheels as well I feel their quality is on PAR with these brands. You may feel otherwise because those other guys have been in the game for many years and have "earned" their level of prestige and high prices...

Volks, rays, SSR, Work wheels and many others have their wheels stamped out in certain specs and colors which is why their wheels only cost 600-800 a wheel. Try asking them for a custom offset or color... I did twice it took them 6 months and cost me an extra $1500 for the custom colors. For instance it cost me nearly $4500 for a set of 18" volks shipped to my door and 6 months of wait time. Honestly, as a customer I would have rather paid the $4500 to wait... only a month, maybe two and get what I dreamed up in 3 piece 20's. That's just my opinion as a customer. Forged specialties is trying to reach a certain customer base and for Instance HRE is trying to reach a totally different customer base. You wont see very many HRE's on accords and civics... HRE priced themselves into an Exclusive market where their wheels hold their value. Strasse Forged is in a similar model sporting their wheels on High End cars from the 370z all the way to Lamborghini's and other exotics. The point is like HRE, Strasse Forged has positioned themselves in quality and in price point so that their product maintains its value for the customer.

For example try selling a set of used volks you paid $3600 for... You may get $2000 for them used. Now a set of HRE's You buy them for $5000 because of the name and the quality your more likely going to get $4000 for them. The lowest I ever saw a set of 20" HRE's go for was $3600 and they were really used...

It comes down to exclusivity, quality and market value.

dont get me wrong Forged Specialties are nice wheels! Ztarga has a set on his car and I liked them at SEMA but would I have bought them over my Strasse Forged. The answer honestly is no... I know I would have paid as much as Dean and Amy plus a few hundred for the custom color and hand painted centercaps. Strasse Forged wheels are not crazy expensive and are affordable...

Well I will keep to myself what I know about strasse forged so lets calm ourselves on what we are talking about, regarding hand painted centercaps, b/c strasse uses stickers too. Everyone uses stickers actually, so lets keep this from trying to talk down each company.

The Targa Z wheels no offense, in my opinion look much better then yours design wise. Now that is obviously opinion, but your pretty much telling me its ok to overpay when you can get the same quality??

I honestly think that its the 'costs more, must be of higher quality' attitude of consumers that causes the insane prices on these wheels. This isn't a matter of comparing a Volk to a Rota, or a BBS to a Linea Corsa. a lot of people on low budgets are willing to sacrifice the quality of the wheel in order to get a better price. IE they get a set of 4 cast wheels, for as much as 1 of the real thing actually costs.

Now what you are referring to is comparing a 3 piece forged wheel to another 3 piece forged wheel. When a company is in any business for a while, they DO earn the right to charge more for a product of the same quality as a newer company, just because they have been around for a long time.

I, personally, don't like spending more money than necessary on something, and i think most consumers feel the same way. However, I think a lot of people get caught up in spending more money than they need to just for the percieved notion of higher quality. Ultimately, the manufacturers, and their labels are happy to play into this, and have no problem charging an extra 1-2 thousand dollars per set so that consumers can feel like they bought something that is of higher quality.

Basically, the wheel companies help to spread the notion that a more expensive wheel is better. Consumers buy into that notion, and would rather spend an extra thousand dollars on company X's wheels because now that they are more expensive than company Y, they must be better. The fact of the matter is, price, does not dictate quality. Ultimately, it comes down to construction (quality of materials like 6061 aluminium, rivets, etc forging process), Cusomization (offsets, widths, sizes, lip, color etc), wait time, customer service, and warranty.

If i can get all of those things to the highest standard, which i did from forged specialties, why would i want to spend an extra 1-2k on HRE or any of these more expensive wheels when i don't need to? If wheel companies want to charge more because their wheels are better, then thats fine, but explain why they are better. The fact that wheel X is more expensive than wheel why, does not mean that its better. You also mentioned value/resale value. All i know is that if i spend 5 grand on wheels and i want to sell them, i'd better hope i can sell them for 3. If i spend 3500 on wheels, i can turn around and sell them for 1500 and take the same loss as the first set. But you'd better believe there's a lot more people willing to spend 1.5-2.5k on used 3 piece wheels than there are people willing to spend 3-4k on used 3 piece wheels.

sorry for rambling, this isn't really meant to be an attack by any means. All im saying is that as a consumer, i dont want to see price as a means of justifying the quality, i want to see the quality justifying the price. I want to see 'our wheels are 1500 more than theirs because of X,Y,Z. NOT our wheels are better than theirs because they are 1500 dollars more.

I think if you want good quality and a good price, as you have seen me push on the forums, I vote Forged SPecialties.

its all about preference. Some people want JDM. Thats why it takes so long to get volk and work wheels. I bet 90% of people of the forum has work or volk wheels.

sooo true... I guess I grew tired of that phase after seeing the same wheels for like 3-4 years straight... not very many new designs and the ones you always wanted were on back order cause everyone else wanted them ... Going 3 piece really does set you apart though... but man those GT-30's look sooo good!!!

And so everyone knows Jamaica is crazy lol, you are that guy that has 4 sets of wheels in his garage and changes them out like I change underwear haha. I will not complain though, when you finally decide to come to the light side of the force, I will get you what you really want deep inside haha(forged specialties)

Jamaica, I am not 100% sure about them, but I know they brought that wheel just regular brushed to just have for the show. That Z is actually going to be getting concave, from what I have heard.

That wheel was also a test design, some things like specifically the rivit positions will be changing from what they tell me. Apparently though the wheels were nicer then you guys say, b/c I have had 3 different cars order that specific wheel(in different colors of course) b/c of that car lol so it did its job thats for sure.

At the end of the day, its about YOUR taste, no one elses. If you like a style, buy it and enjoy. Almost every company will have its issues here and their that someone does like, but customer service is the biggest thing these days. If you dont take care of your customer, why would anyone want to buy your stuff then?

jamaica and bullit have some of the most aggressive offsets on the forums. most people's idea of aggressive probably looks sunken in to you

obviously, offset is a taste thing, but i think the look that most people are going for is 'flush with the fender' when the car is lowered.
