Volk TE37 all real?
I saw this ad on Craigslist and have contacted the seller just a minute ago.
FS/FT Volk Racing TE-37 19x10.5 19x9.5 5x114.3 This is the Ad, now I have never owned Volks TE37, the price seems very good but I am wondering why there would be no decal on two of the wheels and also no blue valve stems on the same two. Would it be possible two rims are genuine volks and 2 are varrestone? How could I verify this? Any help would be greatly appreciated... |
They do look like the real thing. And the seller did mention he had recently had two of them powdercoated... I would guess that's why no stickers. There's a member on this board who purchased 4 TE-37's and hated the blue stickers so muich he pulled them off himself. I don't know what else to say to help with validation, unfortunately.
Although it would have been nice to have put some type of piece of paper on them with his screen name.....things like this are so difficult. |
Thanks for the reply. It's a tough call because I'm very close to ordering a set of new TE37SL's but if I can get these for a lot less it makes sense.
I think a lot will depend on how the conversation goes when he calls me back on the phone, if he seems 'sketchy' at all or anything. I'm tempted to offer a forum member who lives near the seller $100 just to go check the wheels out in person for me before I buy them. It would be worth the feeling of security. Quote:

If you look at the picture closely you can see that both the "unstickered" wheels have the volk racing stamp in them. I'd say the ad is legit based on that.

Most Volk wheels have 'Forged' 'Rays' and usually something else on the wheel to help verify it is real. |

I have the same wheels and mine look just like that. I paid way more. :shakes head: Did he mention why he powder coated the fronts? |
Not sure how much this will help but here is a shot of mine:

From the craigslist ad, it says the seller lives in Orange County. If it's the OC in SoCal, I'd be willing to go check them out for you. You don't even have to pay me haha.

Also, real volks have the actual Japanese manufacturers sticker on the back part of the inside of the wheel. But since he powder costed them, I'm sure its safe to assume they were taken off.
You could always get the seller to take a picture close up of the stamped volk racing logo on the wheels. As for the stickers, they will probably not be the best of quality if he gets them for 15 bucks. I bought these replacement stickers from here VOLK RACING decals for TE37 Wheels: Blue and they were 28 bucks shipped. Also here is another place that sells stickers Acromann Online Shop I believe these are real, but it never hurts to ask for more pics. |
OP, either myself or OMGWTFBBQ there can help you if you want a spotter to inspect the wheels before you commit

those are legit and at a good price including the tires, just need some new stickers
|
i agree..those are real.
|
You better jump on these quick before someone else catches your post and swipes them.

Very good deal. Almost too good to be true. Brand new TE37s w/2 tires for $2500 is unheard of. Maybe you should call this guy and ask some questions. And you can trust BBQ and Phelan for inspection. These are good guys.
