370Z Sport Package Rims

Hi all, this is my first post here so nice to meet all of you....

I am buying a 370Z 6MT today with the Sport Package. This will be my 3rd Z car. I first bought my first 350Z Track in November 2002 and spent a ton modifying that car by throwing pretty much everything the Nismo catalog had to offer at the car - this made my car a bit unruly for the streets and my gf at the time talked me into a more practical vehicle. I got rid of her and got a 2006 Touring Z 6MT. I made some tasteful mods like Rays LMGT4 rims, Nismo exhaust, plemun spacer, etc and this Z has been a great car but it's time for a new one.

This brings me to my point....I am wondering if anyone knows the weight of the new Rays rims on the 370Z. I am very interested in getting the VOLK TE37's in black but only if they are lighter than the Sport Package Rays forged rims....

TE's weigh a couple pounds less. 19-21 lbs I think. If I remember I will weigh mine tonight. You can save more unsprung weight by getting new rotor.

+ the RE050a's are heavy tires... maybe you can find lighter weight tires.

I'm assuming most people get wheels more for the look than anything. It can't hurt to lose some weight with them though.

Honestly, if losing weight is your priority then go with the 2 piece rotors. Losing 10lbs per wheel of unsprung weight is huge. Definitely will be one of my mods before I start tracking my car.

thanks to the wonderful engineers at nissan, i have to run my car with the spare in it to keep more weight in the back (thanks to their diff). i also cant run the car past 5 gallons from full since there is pick up issue anyway

20lbs of unsprung weight for $600. great investment too

Thanks for the info fellas....

I think Michelin PSII's and TE37's will be the choice with H&R lowering springs and who makes good two-piece rotors that are lighter than stock, better performing and fit the 370Z Sport package brakes?

if you're going to do all these mods why not jump on a set of coilovers instead of springs?

Looks like I can drop 20 lbs of rotating mass just by switching to Michelin PSII tires!

PSII (f) 24 lbs
RE050A (f) 30 lbs
PSII (r) 27 lbs
RE050A (r) 31 lbs

I think I will go with Ohlins eventually but for now the H&R's will do. I have them on my other Z

that's a difference you can definitely feel on the brakes.
