are XXR good brands?

I mean they were pretty cheap... Do the quality of the rims actually matter? Can it damage the car?

Jordo! 07-30-2010 05:24 AM

Never heard of them.

If you want inexpensive lightweight rims, I recommend Rotas -- ignore the bad press and stupid internet hype. A lot of hard core road racers and autoxers use Rotas on the track without issues.

That said, if this is strictly for daily driving, it probably doesn't matter all that much what you buy.

LOL at recommending Rotas... :shakes head:

Its not that Rotas are built cheaply or whatever.. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the actual build of the wheel..

The thing with Rotas, XXRs etc is that they blatantly rip-off the design of every legit wheel manufacturer out there, indirectly driving up the price of real wheels..

Here are some examples of the so-called "internet hype"

Advan RS-D

etc etc...

JayYoon, Ultimately its your car so do whatever you want with it.. but to me its hard to respect a company that so blatantly steals designs of other wheel manufacturers. The Z deserves better wheels than Rotas and XXR.

If money is an issue I'd recommend either waiting and saving your money for real wheels, or maybe look at finding something used..

Chris_1 07-30-2010 01:15 PM

Wow I am not a hater of rota, as I dont think their a bad company at all. I have to laugh though, b/c those wheels truly are splitting images of the real things. I like the companies that do something similar but add their own touch to it. Wheels are wheels and their are only so many nice, clean designs you can do, but DIRECTLY copying isnt very nice.

My question now is rims like rotas and xxr, do they damage the car because its cheap rims?

JayYoon 07-30-2010 01:58 PM

btw these rims are xxr and they are pretty cheap compared to like sf challege and other decent brands...

Cheap rims wont damage a car, if they are the correct fitment, meaning brake clearance, and correct offsets and widths. You should be fine if your looking for something cheap, I would suggest TSW for cast wheels, but I dont have alot of experience with XXR. I do have a friend with a wheel JUST like that, but by another company on his srt4 and it drives fine.

wishihadnav 07-30-2010 02:23 PM

i say go for it dude..its your money so spend it how you want..

Does the wheelsDirectOnline.com site still work? I want to buy some rims on the site... is that possible?

MoChu 07-30-2010 02:27 PM

I got the xxr 521. So far everything is fine. No problems. Yes, they are cheap in price but quality is not bad. You dont really know unless you own one.

fairladyZ34 07-30-2010 02:51 PM

i wonder if anyone buys the knock off rims and the real center caps? seems like it would work and most people would never know the difference

wishihadnav 07-30-2010 02:53 PM

yeah people do that all the time...I have a set of new Volk GT caps (high) is anyone is interested in doing that..haha

Chris_1 07-30-2010 03:09 PM

We dont have a way to purchase on the site, we like email or phone to be honest bc we can deal directly with the customer. We accept paypal and all credit cards, send me an email if you want to chris@wheelsdirectonline.com and will get some magic going for you.

Chris_1 07-30-2010 03:12 PM

Fairlady, PLEASE do not encourage that centercap swapping thing lol. That is like worse then buying knockoffs, its ok to buy knockoffs, but to try and pass them off as the real thing is EXTREMELY screwed up.
