Chris is a great person to work with! My experience with Wheelsdirect, and chris, specifically has been great.

from what ive read in the past XXR wheels shatter instead of bending when it hits a big enough impact.

they are okay on cheezo cars... and to be used for snows.

Its not that Rotas are built cheaply or whatever.. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the actual build of the wheel..

The thing with Rotas, XXRs etc is that they blatantly rip-off the design of every legit wheel manufacturer out there, indirectly driving up the price of real wheels..

Here are some examples of the so-called "internet hype" .

Who cares? They're wheels not rare pieces of art :icon17:

Is this about being a poseur? So long as you don't claim your Rotas are Volks, why does it matter?

And even if you did, who are you trying to impress? No one cares about your wheels -- seriously :icon17:

And competition for a given style of wheel should drive the price down not up...

Besides, there's only like 5 or 6 different wheel styles out there. They are all variations on the same theme, and everybody rips off everybody else -- just get ones you like.

BTW: Forged wheels are stronger given their weight -- they aren't necessarily stronger overall, and you can destroy a forged rim if you hit it hard enough.

Again, these aren't rare pieces of art nor are they snowflakes -- they are fvcking wheels. Get ones you like and enjoy.

Fairlady, PLEASE do not encourage that centercap swapping thing lol. That is like worse then buying knockoffs, its ok to buy knockoffs, but to try and pass them off as the real thing is EXTREMELY screwed up.

thats hella messed up... but than again it is pretty smart~~;;lol... but f'ed up...

Just keep your sport package wheels. They are great wheels. If you want to be different, paint them, get spacers, etc. but don't swap them out for garbage.

Waiz 07-30-2010 07:28 PM

Please don't buy XXR's for your 370z.

There are plenty of bargain options like Enkei RPF1's that are a much better quality/weight.

Will they damage your Z, probably not but you will lose performance from the added unsprung weight of the heavier wheels.

Apprently Sportmax (which I have actually heard of) is the former name of the company -- I'd say search for reviews on Sportmax and see if you can find out why they switched ownership.

:iagree:

If you are going to get rid of your rays, UPGRADE, don't buy some crap wheels just to look different. if you want to change your wheels, save up some cash, sell the rays, and get something of at least equal quality.

Oh yeah i had a question regarding my wheels as well...
So what do you guys do with your stock rims after you get ur new rims?
Do you take out the tires from your stock rims and use it for ur new rims?
Or do you get new tires for your new rims?
Do you normally sell your old rims and tires?
If so do you know how much they are worth?

Some sell them some keep them for back up or if they decide to sell the car.
If the size are the same why not.
Same question as the first question?
I think I've seen from 1200~1800. with tires.
