Hi guys. I went and bought these: Rebs RS6 Wheels - 19x9.5 +12 & 19x10.5 +22 350Z G35 370Z G37 and the front tires rub. They sent me to a shop to "roll" the front fenders as they rubbed right away. It's better now, but the main problem is they are hitting the bracket where the edge of the fender is bolted to the front bumper located at about the red square in the pic. I hit it with the dremel and reduced the amount it protrudes, and it's better, but still rubs over a decent road imperfection. The rears are fine and have a 1" spacer with 285's. The fronts have 245/40/19's

I don't really want to run a lower profile tire as "feeling" the road is already at its threshold. If absolutely necessary, I'd do it. Here's what I'm thinking:

Machine inside of wheel to remove a few mm and machine rotor surface to remove a few mm. Hopefully, that would give me the offset to eliminate rubbing.

Your thoughts, alternate solutions, and opinions are appreciated.

In this next pic, you can see the bit of stretch the fronts have now with the 245/40/19's with the 9.5" wheels:

ok so im on stock rims with 25mm spacers all around and this is how my car looks

19x9 +22 && 19x10 +5(25mm spacers all around)
http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/4...2022800076.jpg

if i were to get rims 19x11 +0. would it stick out ALOT more? or just 5mm? would the width of the rim make it stick out a bit more or anything? because im pretty much flush right now and thats how i like it but the rims i'm looking at are only available with +0.

Where are you getting your numbers? Use a wheel offset calculator. And obviously the tire is the most important thing. I hope you don't think you can fit stock tires an an 11" wheel.

what numbers? the stock wheel offset is +47 front and +30 rear. with 25mm spacers they end up +22 and +5 no? And i'm not running stock tires.

Rear: 275/35/19

One of my rear tires just blew, so I need to change the rears. I still have some significant life in the fronts so I'll keep them for now.

Question: should I go with 275s, 285s or 295s on the rear (for aggressive driving / track)?

Also, the car came with Bridgestone Potenzas RE050A. Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

I would def go with 285-35-19.

You don't even need a wheel tire offset calculator. Do the math yourself. 19x10 +5 vs 19x11 +0. The new wheels are 1 inch wider. That's 25.4mm. Half of that is 12.7 on the outside and on the inside. The difference in offset between the two wheels is 5mm. Therefore, your new setup (19x11 +0), without factoring in tire size, will be approximately 17.7mm (12.7 plus 5) farther out than the current setup (19x10 +5). That's where the poster above was wondering where you got the 5mm farther out from. This is only with respect to the rear. The fronts are a completely different issue. If you want to know how much clearance you have, get a ruler and start measuring the distance and see if you have enough space.

19x8 +35mm with 245/35/19 tires.... Stock with sport package and no spacers currently. These rims are taking up space in my garage. Should I purchase new rear tires for them and mount them on the Z or not even possible given the 8" width and offset? Thanks for your help guys.

Sports OEM wheels to replace Base OEM wheels

Will the OEM sport wheels directly transfer over to the base car with the correct OEM offset look, as well as re-using the base wheel lug nuts?

Thanks!

Don't machine down your wheels..

You can bend up that fender tab, the bumper being plastic will give a little. Also go to your local pepboys or autozone etc and buy a license plate mounting kit like this:

http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znet...10631/image/4/

I've found that the square plastic piece in that kit fits into the metal bumper tab hole. And if you use a flatter, wider screw it prevents it from rubbing even more.

Maybe a tad bit of camber wouldn't hurt too.

Its a shitty design, its like almost on top of the wheel. I had the same problem even with crazy stretch on the tire.

Hey that is informative. I rolled my fenders and the only place I seem to still be rubbing is on that damn bumper tab. I bent it up I thought enough but I guess not. On one side the plastic is cracked so I don't know how much it will bend and stay in place, even if I use a large washer to hold it. I was trying to think of other ways to keep the bumper in place but haven't yet. Do you have any other ideas?

Skullmike21 05-23-2012 11:45 AM

I would this set look....19x9.5 +12 with 245/35 19x11 +15 with 275/30...

Skullmike21 05-23-2012 11:46 AM

How*****

cjr1881 05-25-2012 03:41 PM

I fixed the bunper tab problem by bending the metal up as far as possible and using zip ties or "cable ties" instead of screws and trimmed a little more plastic out of the way. No more rubbing. : D
